Maybe, Maybe Not. Was the order handed down to Moreno, One of the Two that struck the Ref that wasnt ejected, to hit the QB after he took a knee later in the game?

He surely wasn't pulled from the game by the coaches after the first illegal hit.

#12 was Victor Rojas, #81 was Mike Moreno as per San Antonio newspaper.  Both should be ineligible from football forever.  As per article SA John Jay had 4 players evicted against Marble Falls.  Sounds like a thug culture to me.

Screw up your life for that? Now, at a young age, they get to learn the prison culture. These are two lives that, because of a hasty decision, may never get back on track.

Absolute garbage. Delete this stupid post.

you can delete a post pretty easily...there should be an option at the bottom of your screen.

oh. or were you talking about mine? I thought the story was interesting and was curious to see how the blame conversation would develop, re: coaches v. kids and figured anybody with a half-shred's worth of common sense would realize the title was very tongue-in-cheek.

I realized it was tongue-in-cheek, just didn't think it was very funny.

There IS a mentally these days where it's OK to try and injure your opponent. I was watching a bowl game from last season in which a player nails a guy and is ejected for targeting. While the ref is announcing the penalty and the ejection, he is high fiving the fans, and continues to high five his teammates while the play is reviewed. Then he starts to throw a little temper tantrum while he is escorted off the field.

Give me the good ol' days of Bill Romanowski and Ronnie Lott, please. This isn't even footbawl anymore.

I'm pretty sure I once saw Craig Jones distract the ref while 2015 Mean Green HoF Inductee Jonas Buckles hit an opposing QB with a steel chair.

There is a reason they were called the Bash Brothers...

If I were the official that was targeted and the only thing temporarily damaged was my pride (no broken bones or other long term, significant injuries), and would ask that both players be suspended for the season and leave it at that. I wouldn't want criminal charges filed against them,

They have already been villianized by the national media and will be branded as "those guys" for quite some time. I think that and sitting the rest of the year would be punishment enough for me if I was the official. Again, as long as I was physically ok.

If only the official was as rational. Heard on the Ticket today that he wants to press criminal charges. Like I said, I don't know if he suffered anything more than temporary pain or not, but if he didn't obtain some form of lasting injury, just let that criminal charge BS go.

I have to respectfully disagree. Assaults on referees in every sport have grown increasingly violent and some have lead to deaths. If people don't understand there will be consequences for their actions then they will continue to behave like savages. While there is national attention they should be made examples of in front of the entire country. Let everyone know Texas won't allow this behavior and do it with severity.

there would be consequences. The offenders would be out for the season, vilified nationally, and a rightfully so embarrassment to their families.

IF the referee was not hurt, what more do you want done?

The punishment needs to fit the crime here.

Bodily injury does not need to occur to be charged with Assault.

If I were in charge of their case, I'd argue they entered into a conspiracy to assault an individual in retaliation of him acting in performance of his job. They did so with premeditation to cause bodily harm. Additionally, I'd argue they used their helmets and equipment as weapons versus a helpless individual. All of this adds aggravated circumstance to their assault. It's not exactly tough to argue either. Then let them beg for a plea agreement. That's just me though. This nonsense has to stop.
