The man will literally say anything to shift blame. And he has been here 14 years. What does that say about this university's approach to athletics?

The outright nerve he has to compare what Benford inherited to what JJ inherited is just downright amazing.

Pretty unbelievable, but then I've come to expect nothing less from this AD.

it really is just comical at this point. I hope the president of UNT understands how much damage this AD is doing at this point. When you continually lie to people, people really don't want to support anything with which you are connected.

Honestly, if it wasn't for my seat situation, I would have walked away by now. The university's continued support for a guy that willfully lies about things for which he is responsible is a little much for me.

What if Smatresk can't get anything done on this point? To me, this will be where he really shows us his view on revenue sports here. Maybe we cannot buy out multiple years for a bad hire--but you can sure as hell fire the guy who put you in this spot. And get someone here in plenty of time to hire someone for what is sure to be a vacancy as the head basketball coach in 2016.

Let's assume that we have a bad season in football--4 wins or less. And basketball just languishes along around .500 or under, as it has for Benford's entire tenure. If Smatresk doesn't feel that he AD needs to get removed, that will be very telling to all of us. But the bigger worry is that he will want to make a change and the BOR and monied donors won't let him change out the #UNTADforlife because he stays in budget and they just like him. If either of these play out, you are really going to have yourself if things will ever change here.

Right now, Neal Smatresk is our only hope to fix this.

both over Northern Arizona, right?

man...I hate Northern Arizona.

Forget SMU and UTSA - this is our enemy now. Study her. Know her. Become her if you have to.

Sorry, Lisa. It's nothing personal.

Staying in budget? Look at the tens of thousands of dollars we have lost under RV because of poor hires, an empty Apogee/Super Pit and a shamefully low number of Mean Green Club members after 15 years on the job. Its painfully obvious that Jackson and the BOR have no intention of making a commitment to UNT Athletics or else they would never have allowed for this incompetence and mediocrity to continue.

You're talking about opportunity costs--UNT only runs on known costs...
