You can give him negatives all you want, and I'm sure I'll get them too, but he's not far off. There is a movement in this country to place local and state law enforcement under federal oversight/control. One way is to withhold funding unless they follow standards set by the DoJ.

There are even efforts to have local and state agencies go to a nationalized purple uniform. When the DoJ was discussing ways to revamp agencies and set new standards, they were brainstorming and an intern who brings coffee suggested purple uniforms because he remembered watching Barney as a kid and purple is the color of friendship.

Clealry a hoax. The feds don't have the power (yet) to dicate uniform design to local agencies.

That said, make no mistake that the goal of black lives matter and other such "community" facist groups is to destabilize local law enforcement to the point of ineffectiveness, thus making federal intervention inevitable.

"Black lives matter" could give 2 shats about the average black person. They are simply using a divisive issue as a means to an end. The good news is they are starting to get some push back by the majority of people in this country, black, brown, and white that actually appreciate police officers.

About time.

I didn't search it on the intewebz, I seriously doubt an instructor, who travels the country speaking to peace officers would make stuff up.  And no they don't have the power, but they can influence by withholding federal funds.

I have 25 follow up questions:

  1. Why was this guy visiting you?
  2. Was it training?
  3. Is he a vendor of some sort?
  4. If so, does he have a financial interest in an ongoing relationship?
  5. Does the narrative he is creating give you/your department incentive to rely on him more or deepen the business relationship?
  6. Did he seem smart?
  7. Did he seem like the kind of guy who might have heard something that sounded convincing and ran with it, not out of maliciousness, but because it sounded possible based on other common rhetoric?
  8. Have you considered that you heard something with dubious sourcing and repeated it eagerly because it fits some of the stuff you think - and it is perhaps possible someone did the same thing to this guy?
  9. Have you ever talked to a parent about a dubious email forward to reassure them it's not true?
  10. Has anyone besides CBL ever done the same thing in reverse to you?
  11. Do you consider yourself impressionable?
  12. Do you feel you often get defensive when your profession is called into any sort of negative light?
  13. Do you ever wish you could do something about the handful of bad apples on the inside or is solidarity more important these days?
  14. Do you like my hat?
  15. Do you like your hat?
  16. Have you ever questioned someone in a profession you don't work in?
  17. Do you think they enjoyed that?
  18. Do you think you were qualified to make that evaluation despite never having done that job?
  19. If a person you criticized for that job flew off the handle at you, how would you react?
  20. Does this conflict now mean you hate every person in that profession forever?
  21. Do you think our offense will look crisp on the field Saturday night?
  22. Do you think 90 and a lot of people here see these skirmishes as little more than a half-hearted chess match of rhetoric and BS to kill time?
  23. Do you see it this way?
  24. Are internet people worth doubling down or getting angry over?
  25. Sports?

So, what I'm getting is that your understanding of Marxism comes from Wikipedia.

The beauty of Marx is that he wrote for so many years and changed his mind so many times that you can find a passage to back damn near anything.  Of course it makes his philosophy completely self negating, but that never stopped a lot of people thinking a lot of things.

The entire thing it too long and terrible.  THIS IS A QUESTIONNAIRE FOR PEOPLE DAMN IT!

I see two glaring errors.

1. Each question should have been an individual thread for expanded discussion

2. Going back to the original post, we have completely neglected to talk more about the "intern who brings coffee" at the DOJ.

  1. Is he/she considered overhead?
  2. How does he bill his time?
  3. Does he have a corporate card or is he reimbursed across each paycheck? Seems like it would be tough to be keeping these huge coffee runs on the books while living paycheck to paycheck, but as long as accounting processes his reports quickly, he should be okay.
  4. Do you think he needs a lot of help with his reports?
  5. Are there special rules on total value per person he can get?
  6. Does AG Lynch say thank you? Crap...did it again.
