Obviously, there was something different in that game from the others listed...

Not a giant and not on the road...

K-State in 2010 at Fouts - 49-41

I don't know that I would include K-State in the P5 giant class. They are P5, but aren't they really more of a middle of the road team?

I would include them in it now--since the late 90's, they are almost always ranked, with quite a few top ten ranked squads...

Georgia '13 -- 45-21?

According to fbschedules, Texas A&M is paying Louisiana-Montoe $1.4mil for a guarantee in 2018.

$150k more, 2 years earlier...

come on, now! They are ULM, for pete's sake. How can we compete?

That's pretty much the best bodybag game we have played--with our best squad in at least 10 years before it, arguably the best we have rolled out since 1978...

I'd say we played A&M just as good if not better in 97 than the 13 did versus Georgia. The 97 team also beat Tech the week before playing A&M.

UNT played tougher schedules back then. RV has done a lot for UNT but his scheduling prowess is a joke.

C'mon, y'all.

LA has a state income tax.  That's why there's a difference.

I applaud you for your wonderful sarcasm...

You are correct on that--but that game was at Texas Stadium. The year before at Kyle Field, we lost a heartbreaker, 55-0.

Would ULM have higher travel costs that would increase the total cost? Could it be that we are, at the end of expense, getting the same amount as ULM? Or should we just assume the worst without the details? Not sure why I am asking that last one since that is what we are obviously doing.

Monroe to CS-335 miles, 5 hours, 35 minutes.

Denton to CS-211/220 miles, 3 and a half hours.

$1,209.78 per mile diffence.

Yeah but everyone knows ULM has to pay off the swamp people that surround their campus or their equipment truck will be stripped for fanboat and white lightnin still parts.

Are they flying or taking a bus? That makes a big difference. Are they going to need a hotel stay for the night? Do we? These are details that are not stated in the single numbers provided that give context. Not saying they didn't get a better deal, just saying that we have no idea if they did.

Our team stays in a hotel the night before home games so I think we can safely eliminate that "detail".

No idea on flying or driving, I was just providing a cost difference per mile.

I think this says a lot about ULM's recent success against P5 teams--yes, they lose a lot, but it gives the P5 AD and coach a way of telling their fanbase that they are playing a team at home that can beat them if they don't take them serious. Its actually a very good game for preparing your team for the rigors of conference play, even if you pound them, just because people know that they have a reputation for sneaking up on you and giving you all they got. We've seen them beat Bama, Arkansas, and Wake Forest, as well as barely lose to Arkansas, Auburn, and Baylor all within the last 8 seasons. Somehow, I can see their price being more for a bodybag game at a P5 giant, if for nothing more than their recent "success" against those teams mentioned.

Or RV just took the call from A&M's AD and said "Deal" just as soon as it was offered, which is probably more likely.

Come on, that shows great improvement!

It's sad when you look at the schedules back then to now. They were tough but we actually beat a few P5 teams. Texas Tech and Oregon State being my favorites.

Just wow.

We are a supposed FBS program and these are the questions we are asking.

Fair enough, but there are a lot of details we just don't know, that is my point. We are so quick to point at other teams and lament that they did better when we have no idea the details of the deal and whether it is better than what we have done.

Did RV ask these? Not sure how my pontificating on whether getting $150k more than we did is actually a better deal means that the program is in some kind of danger. And yes, details matter.

The fact that we have to ask these stupid questions at all is a reflection on the AD.

We wouldn't be worried about this if this was a home and home, would we? Instead, we are concerned with just how high a class whore we are. Guess what? A whore is a whore.

There will never be a UNT/A&M home/home series.  It doesn't matter who the AD is.

Not sure how everything a bunch of people discuss on a message board is reflective of the AD. But assuming you are correct, then no program in the country is in good shape.

Didn't have to be A&M.

THere is more than one fish in the sea.

It's a reflection of the terrible job the AD does with the schedule that we are on here arguing about how much we whored ourselves out for.

<Is that even a sentence?>
