I don't have any info other than what was tweeted but here are some videos. My guess is they are going through the walk on program.

- Christian Flewellan, ArkSt TE, 5'11" 230lbs. Could be used as FB, short yardage back, gimmick play red zone receiver

- Kyle Mealey, Austin Bowie HS, G, 6'2" 308lbs. Not my area, but kid is big.

- Derris Prater, Copperas Cove HS, WR, 6'1" 173lbs. Talked a little about him on the Zac Whitfield thread. Plays strong. Has 4.4 speed (according to Hudl), but I see him more like a possession receiver. Good hands. Apparently only played in 3 games his senior season.

- Nick Weideman, McKinney Christian Varsity, DE/RB, 6'3" 200lbs. Our website lists him at LB. Hits hard. Needs to eat a sammich.

Grew up in Round Rock Tx. when it only had two high school and was a lot smaller. Why do you ask?

Well, I was curious how much you considered going to UT? I grew up in Denton, and to be honest I didn't want to attend UNT for the simple fact that I wanted to get away. It didnt have anything to do with the school, but more of me wanting to get out on my own.

I went to OU for a year, changed my major from construction science (why I went to OU) so I transferred out and changed to Kinesiology w/teacher cert.  Went to SOSU for a year in Durant, OK.  My old coach called me one day and asked me to come coach part time (private school) and go to UNT.  I jumped at the chance for experience so thats how I ended up back at UNT.  It all came full circle, but I will always understand a local kid choosing to go elsewhere for whatever reason they decide.

Love any kid we get from the Cove~!! Need to be pulling more from there, they always compete and always have athletes

Well I didn't consider UT because every person in my high school graduating class was going to UT or Texas A&M so I wanted to do something different and UTSA was still a very young school so I went there and then later transferred to UNT to finish up my degree. Also I never liked the colors of UT and when I started watching football for real I never understood why UT would beat all the bad teams but would always lose to the good teams so at a young age I really got mad that UT never beat the good teams.

But if I would have gotten a scholarship for whatever to go to UT I probably would have went just because of the free money. I do understand what you mean about leaving the place where you grew up but if these Denton kids got a full ride and would start as a freshman at UNT I'm sure they would want to stay at home and play.

No doubt, if UNT was my only option for free school, I would have taken it in a heart beat.  But when these kids have multiple options including Denton, I can see why they leave.  Doesn't mean I like it, I wish they'd stay, but as someone who wanted to leave I understand for sure.

I agree with you on that.

I disagree. We (the university, athletic department and the city of Denton) should do everything necessary to try and lock down as many area athletes and scholars as we possibly can.

They can, but if a kid wants to go, they want to go.
