BEST-CASE SCENARIO…

SMU keeps things close as it kicks off the Chad Morris era against nationally ranked Baylor. The Ponies end up losing by a couple of touchdown but build plenty of team morale. A win over North Texas gives SMU a boost before falling back down to earth in a blowout loss at TCU. SMU, however, recovers by knocking off James Madison. Back-to-back losses against East Carolina and Houston are nothing to be ashamed of. Morris keeps the energy high as quarterback Matt Davis hits his stride and helps the Ponies reel off three straight wins. SMU falls to Memphis and Navy on the road but beats Tulane and finishes with a .500 record.

I like the worst case,

SMU picks up where it left off and is embarrassed by a powerful Baylor team on national television. Things don’t get much better as SMU loses to rivals North Texas and TCU in consecutive weeks.

Notice the DMN says we're their rival which makes them madder than losing!

SMU keeps it within two touchdowns of the #4 preseason ranked team, and possibly most explosive offense in college football? SMU grads are smoking some different kinda stuff.

apparently, that defensive line is pretty explosive, too.

because they understand the potential value of this game in the years to come.

or, a thesaurus wasn't handy.

I see SMU having four winnable games on their schedule: us, JMU, Temple, and Tulane. All our at home, but the last three won't bring anyone and SMU will probably improve some over the season, which leads me to think they will beat one of the Temple and Tulane combo. I' think they beat JMU and Tulane to finish 2-10, doubling the start that June Jones had in his first year.

I'll say it again--we lose to SMU, we don't beat another FBS team on our schedule.
