I know it's a few weeks away, but I'd like to get a feel for this from a few more of you than the last time, cool?

First of all...Iowa State is off that week.  I only know a couple of Iowa State alumni, but they said to keep them updated about all of this and are open to traveling if flights are a decent price and if I go.

So put it together...half of ISU wants Mac back...and he's playing their biggest rival...ON THEIR OFF WEEK.  Am I the only one that thinks that this is a recipe for getting a much larger (maybe not huge, but definitely larger) contingent of people to cheer AGAINST Iowa for this one?

That begs the question...does anybody know the best time to buy tickets into freaking Iowa?  I was looking at prices and it's crazy expensive, and I have no idea why.  Are they cheaper as you get closer to the flight date? I'll be in Texas the week after, so I'll be already going a bit over-budget on travel this fall anyway, but if I can get a decent price on a flight, I may even bring one of the kids.  Do we get a discount if we buy in bulk or something?

I don't think you will find things much cheaper as you get closer. You may try flying into Des Moines. I have driven from Kansas City to Iowa City (about 300 miles) to save money but then again, my time is still worth less to me than my dollars at this stage of my life.

I will not be making the trip to Iowa. I will, however, be in Volunteer State from Nov 12-22 and have stops/tickets for the Tennessee game in Knoxville and the Middle Tennessee game in Murfreesboro.

In terms of my involvement, the point is now moot, as I've booked a signing for that date...but I still think we need to get ISU fans involved ;)

First grad school I got into was the University of Iowa and I have family up there. Always liked the place, until now. We need to take advantage of A QB that is 14-11 as starter and an unproven injury prone rb. Pop them both early and often. Do that and there will be turnovers. Then we better hope this new "up tempo" offense can score... early and often.

I think you're going to be in for a surprisingly competitive game.  Even moreso than the GA game everyone still brings up.

Like, outside shot of a win, competitive.

Why is that? Is there some sort of advantage there for native sons who, against all odds, return as a starring QB for the visiting team? Are you saying Andy Mac can wish their safety into the corn?

They lost a lot from last year.  I think IA might be a B1G cellar dweller this year.   We caught them at the right time... but I don't think it's the right time for us.

Hey, if the ball bounces our way a few times, we can make it interesting.

I've said it before, I think the point spread for this game will be smaller than the point spread VS WKU.

That's what I thought about Indiana last year. They were awful, especially on D. But we couldn't take advantage.

That's exactly how I felt about it...hopefully, this year, things work out more like we would like than they did last year.  I'm not holding my breath, but there's always the chance that we'll do better than expected.  Even though I don't expect a great year, I still hope for one!

Plus, it's not just Mini Mac, but also the fact that Big Mac really goes gunning for Iowa when he plays them.  I think if the team is having at least a moderate year, we could be competitive like MGT said above, or maybe even pull off one of our very rare upsets.

The time still isn't set, right?  It's not on fbschedules.com or espn.com.  I assume it's the "see how the first two weeks look and decide if it's national-TV-worthy and what time slots are open" issue...or is there a time and it just hasn't been updated?  Does anyone have any inside info to be able to say for shizzle?

I think so too, but a lot of times they wait to see who's hot and who's not so they can decide who gets the best time slots and/or national coverage (if you're killing it then they move you from the BTN to one of the more standard channels).  So I expect BTN around 3pm central (1pm AZ) but you never know.
