I wouldn't expect anything better from a committee headed by a writer from the Austin American Statesman, especially Kirk Bohls. It doesn't matter how good we were in the 60s and 70s, they view our school as insignificant because they are elitists. Look how many G5 selections they have in total, 6. The P5 with the fewest, the Pac12, has more than that with 7. They have 6 on there from Nebraska alone.

List makes no sense at all. Pro play should not come into play. Seems like it does in many cases.

Yeah. I could easily make cases for guys like Leinart, Flutie, Young and McCoy, Kellen Moore over Staubach.

Actually, Vince Young is the best college QB I have ever seen, since the college game is much more giving to a running QB than the NFL is.  The other two were fine QBs, but they are clearly behind all of the other QBs listed, as well as many others.

As for college QBs, looking at different types, the best option QB I ever saw was Tommie Frazier at Nebraska, the best dual QBs were Vince Young and Michael Vick, and the best pure passing QBs were probably Troy Aikman at UCLA or Sam Bradford at OU.

The best UNT passer I've ever seen was Mitch Maher and the best dual QB was Woody Wilson. I can't recall us running an option in my time as a fan, but I've heard Scott Davis ran it under Corky with precision when necessary.

+1 for Woody Wilson reference

Based on the timing of my beginnings in watching college football in the mid-90s, I think Tommie Frazier would by my #1.
