Dajon Williams transfers to Texas A&M Commerce

I think the guy had some talent but come on people. In his only real competition he had the worst game of pretty much any UNT QB in the history of ever.  Bad games happen but you don't get better unless you are committed and practice.  Not one of his strong suites. Wish him well but I don't buy into this "if only we had given him a chance" crap.

Only problem is, he's already used up his redshirt year.  His late arrival in Commerce puts him behind where he might otherwise be, but even assuming he tears up DII to such a crazy extent this year that FBS suitors come calling . . .

He'd have to sit out next year, his junior year.  Which would only leave him one year of eligibility.  He'd probably be better off staying in Commerce, racking up crazy stats, and giving himself an outside shot at an NFL camp.

I would have to think that his FBS days are over.

Yeah, his best shot would've been going to a juco this year. Not dropping divisions.

I predict mediocrity.  He needs to focus on family first, school second, and football third.  My belief is that he did what he should have done and set his priorities this way while at UNT, which didn't leave enough time to put in the work to be a successful FBS QB.  A QB's physical assets have to be balanced with knowing their program like the back of their hand, and that takes a lot of study time.   (Make fun of Canales' tests all you want.). One can never completely compensate for the other.

This is isn't a knock against Dajon.   I believe he doesn't have enough time in the day between school and a young baby plus trying to be a college QB, if his priorities are right. We'll see.

also they don't call TAM COMMERCE EASY T for no reason. Academics will be really dumbed down to his liking

Strange world Commerce's head coach appears to be Don Carthel's son. I remember Don's name coming up several times during our past coaching searches.

Only in terms of wishful thinking by some of the fans.....like me. In the land of  Woulda-coulda-shoulda I thought Carthel would have made a better choice than Dodge.

And, I wonder if this young man played for and was developed by the Carthels..........http://www.dallascowboys.com/team/players/roster/dustin-vaughan-0

Yes and it was also his fault that the UAB offense scored at will.

Kid was a FR and we should have let him make freshman mistakes in a garbage season anyway. Stop recruiting kids that you aren't willing to let make mistakes. Mac is the Benford of QB selection for Christ's sake. Make a mistake, you are done! LINE CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Points from Dajon turnovers matched the total points scored by our offense in that game, regardless what our defense did.  I don't disagree with your points, but some posters are building the Dajon legend up to Chuck Norris proportions.  He's likely somewhere in the middle at best.

We were 2-3 before the UAB game last year.  Hardly a 'garbage season' at that time.

He looked like John Elway out there VS Nicholls & LATech's 2s & 3s.  That's why, even after laying a turd VS Indiana, he got another go VS UAB.  He crapped again.  We got a better understanding of him between IU & UAB rather than his performances @LATech & Nicholls.

We had to turn to McNulty.  He was the best option we had.

Disagree. I attended the worst game.

Good luck to him. A lot of solid NFL players have come out of that program.

That thought got me checking out NFL'ers from both of our schools, and I'm wondering what anyone remembers about http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WebbJM20.htm this guy. If he actually hit the field here, I must be having a serious brainfart to not remember a 6' 7" 335 pound current NFL tackle who was allegedly on our roster so recently.

This guy?  http://sports.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/player-J'Marcus-Webb-36002

I'm fairly confident he never played for UNT.

The pre-football-reference is wrong. Multiple other sites say he came out from North Mesquite, went to Texas, had grade issues and transferred to Navarro and finished out at West Texas A&M.

If this is the worst game you have ever attended, think about this................ The guy at center most of that game is our 2nd string QB.......

Think about this, the other guy taking snaps that game, who went 1 for 6 for 7 yards with 2 INTs(1 pick 6) and 2 sacks as a redshirt junior, is our redshirt senior starter.
