At Wisconsin in 2019

Another body bag game. I know we have to, but a 1-1 with a beatable p5 is desperately needed. I don't have an issue playing Wisconsin, but are we doing what's best for the program or letting Dan plan a reunion tour with his old buddies?

probably both at the moment.

So that completely fills out the paycheck games through 2020.  Our first chance to schedule a home/home with ANYONE will be 2021.

Unless y'all really enjoy prognosticating 6 years out, you can stop with all of the "I wish we could schedule <XYZ teams> as a home/home series" threads and comments please.

The reason we must schedule these paycheck games is because we cannot fill Apogee.   If that changes in the next 3 years or so, then maybe we can start looking at scheduling a home/home with someone in 2022.

Isn't it better that we play Big 10 teams rather than SEC. The landscape could be very different by then, but even upper tier Big 10 teams should be a better matchup than SEC counterparts.

Elite programs are elite programs. Doesn't really matter which conference they are in, the distance between the 2 programs is still significant.

probably both at the moment.

That's probably fair. His connections could be helping us get games we need, just as easily as he could be picking teams he wants to play.

Yes, its much better. You know that they have been beaten in the past by Fresno State and TCU when they were non-P5. I'll take my chances at a B1G school over playing at the southern power of your choice...

 No.

I am almost positive that one of his sons went to North Texas and his youngest graduated from DHS in 2005.

I looked it up and he went to Southern Miss. And he has a son that went to North Texas named Justin. It just looks like it is just a job and no spirit to this guy sometimes. The reason I asked the question is the fact that any person on this board would fight with determination to have a home and home with a P5 if they were in RV's shoes. Then we play two paycheck games in 2015 and a bye week in week one. A broken promise of Apogee bringing in a known and sought after opponent, and we get to play FCS murder spree games at home.

Meanwhile, our conference mate's UTSA are bringing Arizona and OK State to their borrowed stadium.... I get that no one can be perfect and give us everything we want, but it looks almost as if RV is actually trying to mess with us.

So looking at future schedules, we play at Florida next year with a home game against Liberty, in 2017, we play at Iowa and play Lamar at home, in 2018, we play at Arkansas with Incarnate Word at home, and then in 2019 we play at Wisconsin and at home against Abilene Christian. SMU comes here in the even years, Army comes here in the odd years, thru 2021.

Don't expect Home and Home series with big name schools until Rick leaves.  He's stated several times that they want to limit those games but they need those on games on the road for bigger gates.  Until we start selling out (and probably charging higher ticket prices) I don't think we'll see a P5 in Denton.  Also, as nice as Apogee is it still only holds 30k and Denton isn't nearly the attraction that San Antonio is.

The last time I was in Wisconsin, the waitress was not familiar with Dr Pepper.  In 2019 many of us, maybe me, will no longer be in attendance at Apogee.  Or anywhere else.  I hope we can schedule some "name brand" teams to play here while I'm still able to walk to my seats.

BY the time RV retires, the P5s probably won't even be playing G5s or FCS teams anymore. Even if they do, it will be like one game a season, at their place, which we will gladly play.

BTW, La Tech is getting $1.1 million to go play at UT to lead off the 2019 season, so that kind of money does pay for a lot of non-revenue sports and salaries. Of course, knowing La Tech, they'll probably either scare the crap out of the Horns or beat them...

I completely agree with you on RV having to leave.

There is two things I can think off the top of my head right now that is hurting our attendance. Obviously losing and more losing is just hurting us with gaining any respect from the City of Denton, State of Texas, or the nation. But these pip squeak games with FCS teams is just killing us. A casual fan doesn't want to go to Apogee and watch us steam roll a Nicholls state or Portland State. RV is a real sellout, when it comes to giving the fans what they want. He just wants to get us by through body bag games, and he'll then schedule some no name opponent from a cupcake FCS bottom of the barrel, You can't tell me that this guy has the mean green spirit, when we get a 5 home game schedule, no name opponents at home, constant away bodybag games. If he actually did his job correctly, there would be no, "Well I can't do this or that, because...". Instead he would find a way to bring us a quality opponent to come into Apogee an play us. He would find us a way to play 6 home games, and if he can't accomplish that.... Leave. Its almost pure ignorance to me....

I don't think anyone is asking to play top 10 teams at Apogee. We just want AVERAGE to above average teams. P5 teams that might be beatable and will bring some interest. You know, like several teams in CUSA, MWC, and Sunbelt have been able to do. Believe it or not 1-1 do exist at similar programs with far worse stadiums.

For isntance, this year's schedule would hurt a little less if Iowa was coming here in the future. But no, we are going back there AGAIN! It's laughable.
