I received some negative rep from our resident Baylor fans for saying this in another thread, but BU does not tend to travel well. It's one of the reasons, among others, that they struggle with landing a high profile home-and-home.

If we get the turn out predicted by some on this site, there's a good possibility that there will be more mean green in ford next week than whatever shade of green Baylor is this week

Here's my take -- and this is why you see so many schools with lowering attendance numbers.  Take Arkansas vs. Texas A&M.  I can pay $150 a ticket to watch it in Jerry World or go to a bar and watch it in crystal clear HD and eat and drink $150 worth...  OR watch it at home and eat and drink like a king for probably $20.  It's sort of simple economics.

In the case of the SMU game, most Baylor fans probably see that as a warm up game.  Many of them will opt to watch it at home although I still believe the game will end up a sell out before all is said and done.

I just think simple economics is starting to play into this attendance equation.  Also, the TV contracts are starting to get to the point that every game is on TV now.

Has anyone answered the question of whether or not the athletic department gets any money off of away game tickets?  Can someone please find out?

I don't know the specifics of the contract with SMU but I know how it usually works.  Usually the teams are sent an allotment of X, and they agree to buy a subset of that, lets call that Y.

If UNT sells less than Y, they have to buy up to Y.  If they sell Y, they owe nothing.  If they sell over Y the money goes to the other school.  Usually there is a soft date set as when to send back any unsold tickets.

So when fans buy from the ticket office they are making sure the AD doesn't have to pay that Y cost.

All of this is reversed when the other school visits us.

ETA: Everyone seems to be in Section 122, and here I am sitting in 120... did I make someone angry?  ;)

We (and I believe the entire contingent of the EastOak Alumni crew) are in 119.

I am not able to do the East Side trip because I live in Dallas.  Please take pics and share your thoughts on here afterwards if you will.  I have a feeling that is going to be a really fun trip.  #jealous

If you are not getting a response from the athletic department, I suggest you move up the chain.

If there are enough of you having an issues, I am confident the issue will get addressed.
