"UNT’s regents will also hear a proposal to spend $5.5 million to renovate the UNT Coliseum. The university-owned venue that is also known as the Super Pit is home to the UNT men’s and women’s basketball programs. The money would be used to upgrade lighting in the facility and renovate the concourses."

This is much needed IMHO.

The least amount possible? Not surprised. I'll be even less surprised when the regents turn down the increase.

You've been calling for a raise in the fee, why aren't you happy?

The other option is to put it to a student vote.  Want to lay odds at it passing via a student body vote?

Yes absolutely and I have the feeling the that our President will push hard for this.

OK simple math   37000 students - assuming on average 12 hours a semester = $444K a semester?  So this raises basically an additional $400K a semester into infinity?  Not chicken feed but not huge dollars either.  Probably gives them some ability to take on additional projects due to the longevity of it being in place.

Does the athletic fee apply to Maymester and/or summer terms?

According to the link, there is nothing to limit the fee to just the spring/fall semesters.  It would apply to all semesters and sessions and caps at 15 credit hours.

Wouldn't the least possible to change nothing or decrease the fee? Also, stated in the article was that they cannot increase it more than 10% without a student vote, so it would seem that this is the most aggressive action to take without risking students saying no and getting no increase. How does the university win with you? You want them to increase the fee, but when they do, it is not enough. When was the last time you said some positive?

I didn't see a max increase percentage when I looked at the post when it first came out. Either I missed it or the lost was updated.

I'll admit I was curious about if there was a max increase.

Either way, I don't see how this would qualify as the "least amount possible". They are not technically going after the max increase, but I don't think that would be wise to put it to a student vote.

From memory, I recall someone mentioning a10% max increase limit without requiring a vote.

So...RV stuck the students with the max, just like most of you closet democrat/socialists have been calling for.
