"Guard Marcus Jackson, who leads all Tennessee offensive linemen with 17 career starts, will undergo potential season ending surgery. Coach Butch Jones didn't disclose the nature of Jackson's injury and said there's no set timetable for his recovery. The Vols allowed the most sacks in the SEC last season."

I see an opportunity.

If we played them the second or third game of the season. But Nov 14 gives them plenty of time to get someone else worked into the position. Of course, if you're talking about how bad they were in QB protection even with their star O-lineman in there......then yes.

One O-linemen going down doesn't do much for us. But if more go down.... at this time we don't know: It could be really awful to go there late in the season, because we are beat up and they found their stride, or it could be a real blessing, because we found our stride and while they are super talented they are also real thin at some offensive positions and will play some mean teams in the SEC (still does not mean we'd score points). Their QB depth chart: a junior...... then right next to that some true froshes. If the number 1 QB goes down, they might be in real trouble.

On the other side of the ledger, their WR Pearson was recently reinstated...

Tennessee reinstated wide receiver Von Pearson on Friday from a suspension imposed when he was named in a sexual assault allegation during the spring.

Earlier this week, the Knox County District Attorney’s office announced that Pearson would not face rape charges in the case because of insufficient evidence. The senior was indefinitely suspended by the team on April 24, the day after the accusations surfaced.

Pearson, who was the Vols’ second leading receiver last year, has been cleared to enroll in fall classes at Tennessee, the university announced.

“Mr. Pearson is gratified by today’s decision and looks forward to continuing his academic and athletic career at the University of Tennessee,” Pearson’s attorney, Chris Coffey, said in an email.

Pearson had 38 receptions for 393 yards and a team-best five touchdowns in 2014.

Our work will be cut out for us regardless. I just hope that once this game rolls around in the middle of November, we've built up enough positive momentum that the squad walks into Neyland anxious to make national noise with a late SEC non-conference upset.

It was starting to look like we would have a chance last year against Texas. The best team we've beaten on the road under Mccarney was the 4-8 Louisiana Tech team when we had our 2013 bowl team. We need to start winning some games on the road before we worry about Tennessee.
