Several new names on the UNT roster

Yes, they added about ten names to the roster that have not been here before. However, we have previously discusses several of them (transfers/preferred walk on).  For example, the DT walkon from MD and Keenum from TT. There are some that are just brand new names.

Dude is salty.. Got some shake to him, will be Harris/Brelan 2.0 looks shifty like Brelan

Don't recall any off-season discussion about #34 Marcell Porter (SOPH RB - West Texas A&M)

I mentioned him a time or two in my spring comments. He's a lot like Jimmerson in his style, but he's a little quicker and a step faster. And like all our RB's he has good hands.

Hmmm, I noticed on the official team roster that he is only 5'6" X 153 and he's listed as a WR. Based on the runs in his highlight reel, I'm going to predict that Mr. Johnson is going to do a lot of returns for us. The next Brelan Chancellor?

OR, because of his size, he might be the second coming of one of my favorite return men from the late 70's early 80's, Carlen Charleston RB/return man, 5'5" X 155........#42 on your program.

Julius looked good in the DL drills yesterday.

He is the most intriguing of the bunch to me.  Chose to walk on here over offers, pretty highly regarded in his district and plays a position of need.

      This is what I call a “growth game.” This is the kind of game Hodge can use the film from to show the team the razor thin margin between winning and losing against the best teams in our league. If we are who we hope we are, our team walks away from this knowing we CAN beat anyone come conference tourney time, we just have to execute.

      plus let's not forget a Haggerty prayer from 30' going in. we're likely not into the foul game in the last minute or so without that bucket

      Great game, Memphis is a good team and this one came down to the end. However I am still baffled by UNT's inability to inbound the ball, this is a trend that has been going on for a few seasons now. There were several times today that they would inbound the ball directly into a corner trap, many of those instances resulted into a turn over.

      Mean Green Fall At No. 21 Memphis, 68-64

      The Mean Green (10-4, 1-1) got a career performance from senior big man Moulaye Sissoko who poured in a career-high 17 points on eight shots and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds in the four-point defeat. North Texas’ Brenen Lorient scored a team-high 18 points and was one of four different Mean Green players to score in double figures. Senior Jasper Floyd had 11 points to go along with a season-high six assists. UNT outrebounded the nationally ranked Tigers (12-3, 2-0) 30-21and forced them into 15 turnovers and just seven assists. “If you have told me we would force them into 15 turnovers and just seven assists and outrebound them by nine I would have really liked our chances,” said head coach Ross Hodge. “But it was that stretch in the second half where we didn’t handle their press well and we ended with 16 turnovers. We’ll regroup together and get better from this together.” The Mean Green have a quick turnaround as they host Rice on Wednesday at Super Pit at 8 p.m. CT. UNT is 8-0 at home this season. The game will be broadcast on the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield and ESPNU.
