is he a will linebacker type?

no, he is down hill in a hurry. I would say Sam, where if asked to cover he could but I would want this dude so close to the LOS making plays in the run game, I would feel it was a waste having him cover all over the field as a will.

I would strongly consider lining McNair up at defensive end.  If he's 250+ as a true freshman, goodness with his frame he could be 270 or more at some point.  What a great addition he will be.

I picked James Gray because he is an instant starter with great ball skills... like a Gerod Holliman but bigger. If our front seven is as good as they look on paper, he may be getting lots of looks at int's this season.

Ugh. How about we leave some LBs with size at LB for a friggin' change?

Because if you don't have anyone on the dline who can the offensive linemen off of them it won't matter anyway.  It's hard for us to recruit dlinemen, if we can't recruit them we have to fake it with what we have.

It's ugly, but it's better than the alternative, and it won't change until we can actually hall enough FBS dlinemen to fill out all the roster spots.

I think we have some potential studs on the DL. It's Patrick's job to turn these guys into killers, which I think in time he'll be able to do.

I also think we need to keep McNair at LB. After watching a little of his tape he, IMO, is a true SEC caliber LB. If we do anything with him we need to trim him down to 240 and let that 240lb frame (with 4.5 speed) roam around. Limiting him to a DL position would be an injustice to his skillset.

Based upon what I saw in the drill videos (and the numbers of DL we have) I think we can leave him at LB.
