Does North Texas have to wear the new uniforms? I assume we still have the old ones, and I'm fairly sure Nike isn't paying us to wear these. Could the athletic department simple leave them on the shelf and let the team suit up in last seasons uniforms?

Just wondering.

The reason the uniforms were changed this year is because Nike changed plants and couldn't exactly duplicate last year's uniforms, per a podcast with RV.  You could use last year's unis if you don't want the freshmen to suit up, I suppose.

Incoming freshmen don't have uniforms from last year.   Am I missing something?

They couldn't use the ones of the seniors and other departed players? Or do they get to keep their jerseys?

I'm assuming they can't feasibly replace names and numbers.  Maybe I'm wrong.

I always thought the name plates were just a stitched on patch.

That would be quite a coincidence if the numbers matched exactly.

Freshmen can only take the numbers that are available, which would be the numbers of the seniors and departed players anyways. And the numbers of the players vacated (i.e. #70 vacated by Sir Calvin switching to #48).

They also typically take numbers that were previously not being used.

I always thought teams just bought the whole set (1-99) for future use anyways. Between walkons and practice squad guys we have pretty much every number 1-99 taken up every year either way, plus numbers used twice for one player on offense and one on defense.
