There isn’t a bigger question for UNT heading into the 2015 season than how its quarterback situation will play out.

The Mean Green used three starters last season, including Andrew McNulty. The senior started the last six games of the 2014 season and enjoyed some success along the way.

His performance has raised the question: Can he have a breakout senior season like Derek Thompson did in 2013, when he led UNT to a 9-4 finish and a win over UNLV in the Heart of Dallas Bowl?

UNT coach Dan McCarney said he believes McNulty is capable of doing just that during Conference USA’s annual media day in Florida in his interview broadcast on the league’s website.

Mac was asked if McNuggets could have a season like DT it wasnt Mac saying well because he played so well for us last year we think he could duplicate DT's performance. What was he going to say? No he cant be good enough for us to win. It was typical coach speak. McNulty is all things Mac said he was good kid, hard worker, and respected. We all know this is still a competition. If it was a slam dunk that McNulty was the starter he would've been in Boca

I could find a $100 bill laying on the sidewalk when I go check my mailbox this afternoon. The mail lady is certainly capable of dropping a hundy on the pavement when she drops off the snail mail....

To be fair Mac didn't compare the two physically speaking.  But it does appear that they are doubling down in terms of their expectations.

I sure hope they are right.
