SB Nation took a look at CFB programs through the lens of the current recruits who have largely only been observers of football for the past 10 years.

As we all know, it's not good for North Texas.  Based on their rating, essentially the Mean Green rate as a 34% below average over the time period.  It certainly does highlight the reputation this recruiting staff has to overcome as they pitch Denton to high school players, coaches, and parents.

I've pulled out some of our most frequent recruiting trail competitors...

How every college football team has stacked up since current recruits started watching

Unfortunately, by only viewing the last 10 seasons, they ignore all of the New Orleans Bowl appearances, but includes the Dodge debacle. I'd like to see how we look over the last 5 seasons. I'm sure it wouldn't be great, but certainly not as bad as #123.

I think this article gives recruits too much credit. This senior class was in 2nd grade 10 years ago. If they were watching college football then it was the school their parents were fans of. Most kids don't really start watching a good amount of college football until about 7th grade, which would've been 5 years ago for these kids, and the last year of the Dodge era. Even then they would've been watching the schools like Texas, USC, Oregon, Ohio State, SEC, etc.

I'd be schocked if more than 5% of the kids we offered so far could name our previous head coach off the top of their head before we offered. These kids have a pretty clean slate when it comes to North Texas football knowledge, so our coaches can really paint these recruits' perception of our program.
