We shouldn't routinely lose to ULL, Tx State, UTSA, Houston, SMU, La Tech, & Tulane. The last four have ate our lunch for a while now, but we should at least be batting .500 against the first three and we have not even come close to that over the years.

Just curious. Can you provide a list of players we went up against those schools for and where those players ended up signing?

Thank you Billy I certainly don't have the time to do that kind of research. We lost out on almost every kid we offered from Louisiana who Tulane also offered but that was a few classes ago I suppose it's not relevant in 2015. I do remember us losing out on a DE from Pilot Point to La Tech as well as a 3* WR from FW but I'm not sure what class that was.

Recruiting will only get tougher with the new head coaches in place at Tulsa & SMU we need to make it to a bowl game this season and win more battles than in years past.

Compare us apples to apples, basically against teams in our conference or near it, like Texas State, which aren't SWC royalty. Look at ULL, La Tech, Arkansas State, ULM, Texas State, UTSA, and UTEP, all public schools with similarities to us. Rice, SMU, Tulane, Tulsa, and UH aren't comparable, in my opinion. The private aspect alone changes the dynamic, then in the case of UH, their history and funding is way beyond ours. The others, though, are ones we can examine to see about recruiting comparisons.

sorry for the quotes below.. IPAD won't let me remove them. What I am saying is, this kid reached out to UNT before he had all these offers, from the big time schools, and was interested and heard NOTHING BACK.  I am sure there are some things and time they'd have to wait before speaking with him as to not be in violation, but come on man. You really want to sit here and argue with two of the top QB recruiters around (Gundy and Sumlin as to this kids chances of making an impact).

Yes, only at North Texas can a kid going to the ELITE 11 and THE OPENING contact our staff, basically telling them I want to play for you (that's a guess on my part) and not hear a dang thing!!!

Not a we will keep in contact, thanks for sending film in, we will look at it and get back with you, NOTHING. That is pathetic, even if they don't like him, let him know that while you appreciate the effort your going in another direction. THAT is how you build relationships with HS coaches and kids

Sorry to be dumb, but who is E.K. Thank you, I knew someone would be that guy and mapquest it out to prove some point to deflect attention.

EK = Ernie Kuehne

I live 3.8 miles from liberty and 8 miles from apogee, I didn't mapquest it, I used google maps

Im not saying he's coming here but I wonder how hard Littrell takes a run at this kid being less than 10 minutes from campus

I read somewhere he was looking to go west coast action.

If we pay to have some palm trees planted alongside Apogee do you think that will be close enough?

I say its DEFINITELY worth a shot.  Maybe plant some right outside his potential dorm room lol

I mentioned this in the Recruiting thread but I wonder if we could drag this kid over as a packaged deal if we get his buddy to come along?

Watched his tape. Good hands, good high school speed but lacks D1 speed or size which is why he probably has no offers.

Well I know that but in order to get a good QB, do you take that chance? If we dont max our Scholarships out then I'd say take a flyer and see what happens in the long run

I think Starkel would have to already have us as one of his top choices for his friend's scholly to sway him. I think it would be a wasted scholarship to offer his buddy if he isn't even considering us now.

ok chico and the others are gone-we need to look forward now

This was an older topic brought back to life due to the kid decommitting from OSU. If the powers that be would change it to "Nick Starkel: The Future of the Mean Green", will that please you?

I'm always confused by threads like these... did anyione growing up ever want to go to college in their hometown, or a town 15 miles away?

There was no way in hell i was going to be that close to my parents for my college experience. I wanted to get away for sure.
