6'1" 192 lb quarterback from Jones high school in Jones, Oklahoma. We have offered. We appear to be his first offer. Completed 47% of his passes for 1696 yards with 15 touchdowns against 13 interceptions with 181 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns last season as a sophomore.

His TD to INT ratio would make him a HOF'er to some around here.

I am interested to see how many times he fumbled the football since he carried the ball a bunch. Our QB last year, Smith, was a great dual threat but fumbled the ball way too much

I would think its not ideal to add 3rd or even 4th QB to the class(if Auggie really does show up), when we need depth at so many other spots... But with UNT, we just need to keep bringing in QBs and hoping one clicks.. He has better size than Fine as well.

I know we have a lot of QB's coming here for the fall but I really wished we would of gotten this kid. Senior season was nothing short of greatness

I agree.  Jones is a 3A OK program, one higher than Fine played, and he put up very impressive numbers, has good size and led them to a championship, if I am not mistaken.  He had an interesting offer list with offers from a number of Ivy League schools, Hawaii, Wyoming, Wake Forest, Ohio, etc... including North Texas.  I am wondering if our offer was still good after the Pearson commit, or if that commit cooled him on coming to Denton.  Either way, I find it odd that he ended up at Southern Illinois with the offers reported on 247.  Would be interesting to track his development over the years.

Yeah, Im wondering if grades or something have to do with this decision but then again, Southern Illinois wouldnt have to big of different standards academically than D1A would they?

I would be shocked if it were grades with the number of Ivy League schools offering.  Falling short of Ivey League entrance requirements would still get you in places like Wake Forest, Wyoming, Hawaii, etc...
