seems like we had one by June.  I am

not advocating we need one as I like to wait and see what comes available, but it's nice to have a mix of both.

Wait to see what comes "available" or more like wait and see what trickles down to us.  It's about well documented that this staff can't recruit for shit. We get a guy here and there, but even a bind mouse finds a cookie every now and then.

Yes. Rodney Bendy had already committed in May. I feel like we aren't really close on anybody right now, because so many of our offers have been to guys with big offer lists where we have little to no chance at.

Also surprising to me that we haven't offered a QB really. It looks to me like we aren't going to take a high school QB for the second year in a row. Really surprising considering Dajon is gone and Chumley isn't likely to stay at QB.

Shame on me for not liking Dickey's "stealth" recruiting tactics.  Never had many early commits, Top 100, etc.  But the man did bring in some very good under the radar recruits.

It's completely different now. Early commitments were much more rare back then in general.

Even go back 6 years ago to the class of 2010, we didn't get our first two commits until August (Brandin Byrd and Brelan Chancellor) but that wasn't uncommon for a Sunbelt (or non-AQ school) at the time. Things have been changing exponentially since.

I feel like this staff is starting to not put much stock in early commitments and recruiting after last class. We didn't do a great job hanging onto our early commits, and a huge chunk of our recruiting class. I believe 15 of our 25 signees didn't commit until December, January, or February.

That's true, but getting offers out to kids that we can compete for betters our chance of landing more than a handfull of guys with at least a decent offer list. Early loyalty goes a long way.
