Not that we could land this kid, but @BillySee58 surely we should be able to pull a few kids from the large private schools around. I know dunno isn't big but always has top end talent, also the LT from desoto that got his first offer from Rice... Why not us? Why not us in on Kyleb Howell... Makes me sick the list could go on and on.

Also, need a QB that's young... Way to let Nick Starkel slide right in front of your nose at Argyle Liberty Chrisitian and he gets no offer. GUH

The only thing I'm hung up with on private school kids is that the ones from the schools like Dunne, Lynch, Prestonwood, etc all have just as much exposure to colleges as metroplex powers do. Not only that, but their parents are usually well off enough, demographically speaking, to afford to send them to a lot of camps, combines, unnoficial visits, etc.

So most of the time you're not going to get them without having to beat out other schools. Something we haven't done well lately. But there are plenty of players we should go after from private schools. Also, a lot of those kids could walkon at UNT and their parents would be paying less for college than they did for high school.

Bottom line, doesn't matter where you focus your recruiting in Texas, you have to be able to out-recruit other schools

The kid has multiple offers, why on Gods green earth should a fan have to email a staff about a kid 15 minutes from their campus? Just curious.

I just looked up Mr Howell and if our staff hasn't dropped an offer on this kid they are about dumb as a box of rocks.

Not sure that his measurables are accurate on Yahoo, but they have him listed at 6'1" 220 and a 4.58 40 yd.

He's a 2* that has 4 FBS offers including 3 teams we'll be playing annually in Army and UTEP. If the kid would be happy to come here he's a guy I would be happy to land. He could blow up late and a relatively early offer from us could pay dividends. And there is no way our staff doesn't know about this guy, surely.

I was told by his father that the Defensive coordinator said they liked him and they are going to watch his film a little closer.. he got invited to an invite camp only??? And they said they liked him.  Well if you like him offer GEEZ!!

On that note if I take him to a game this year is that a recruiting violation?

Chances are if they haven't offered yet then they probably won't. Not saying I wouldn't offer or anything. Just saying I wouldn't expect it at this point. Our offers have stopped rolling out that frequently, and that is usually true at this time of the year each year. Especially with a kid they've had plenty of time to evaluate.

As for Coach's question, unless:

A - you're a donor

and

B - you turn yourself in

there's nothing wrong with taking a kid you know to a game. Especially if they pay for the ticket.
