WKU suspends swimming & diving for 5 years

"In a letter sent to WKU's faculty and staff, Ransdell added, "Specifically, the violations include hazing, underage alcohol consumption, and abuse, including engagement of perspective student athletes on recruiting visits to campus. Additionally, the investigations found that coaches were aware of this pervasive culture and failed to sufficiently eliminate inappropriate behavior within these teams."

No, but I bet they would have fired the coach or coaches involved.

Interesting they elected to shut it down "for five years" on the heels of dropping men's tennis for financial reasons last year and the announcement comes just two weeks short of one year after that announcement.

As would any other program. So, why didn't they just fire the swimming and diving coaches and move along if the same penalty for the same offense would not be administered to the football or basketball programs?

Good question. They are honoring the current student's scholarships so those should still count. But as they graduate or transfer, the "scholarship opportunities" are not being replaced.

Unless they add something else.

WKU is well above the number of minimum sports necessary to compete as D1.

I assume this is men's swimming only, kind of odd that is not more evident.

This being "sung to"...this could be horrible punishment to anyone who has ever attended any class at the UNT College of Music, if the "singer" wasn't up to...well, you get the picture.
