As a both a North Texas and Astros fan, the last few weeks have been a continuous, non stop, ever lasting, punch to the dick.

Rangers are 29-15 since August 1st.

Moreland hit a two run shot to put us ahead.  We need to put as much some distance between us before the final series with Houston.

on the down side..Napoli had another drop of an easy fly ball in left...his third..with two outs and a man on third that scored to give them the lead.  You gotta believe that experiment has to come to an end, right?

You don't know these two sentences are related, do you? Moreland offense > Napoli defense right now or nah?

Oversimplification: Moreland is too hobbled to play OF and we need his bat, so Napoli is getting the OF starts Mitch would get to keep both bats and Prince in the lineup against left handers. I'm not sure how I feel about it to be honest, but so far the results are there and Bannister seems stubborn about it, so, despite the break yesterday, we'll see how we match up in Houston.

Also, the magic number is...

Oh, and I know the lame stream media says the number is 8, but with the season series clinched, as long as Houston is also a playoff team, it's like having an extra game on them.

In no way shape or form should Napoli be in the OF.  I don't really care about his right hand bat because I'll take my chances on pitching and defense 110% of the time.  I'm fine if it's May or June but in September during a hard playoff push is absolutely the wrong decision by Banny regardless of outcome.

On paper, I totally agree. However, if you went defense and sat Moreland the last week or two for Venable, where is this thing right now? I was 100% against it at first, but now i have gone about 70% based on results (which is fallacy, but whatever. We're winning and it's fun.)

Yeah I understood that, and Banny was quoted in the STelegram this morning that Stubbs defense>Napoli'bat last night.   at least he has Venables and his .240 whatever out in LF today over Stubb's .135?

I don't understand how Venables is hitting .240 because I don't think I've ever actually seen him get a hit. Hope there's not a let down today - and glad we're not playing LAA because they make everyone play a night game on getaway days (or at least us whenever we visit.)

Delino DeShields for his spot or too much of a RINO?

That Canadian-born socialist?  No way.  No way he should serve as Speaker of the Clubhouse since his dad was a Montreal Expo.
If it's not that red-blooded-American Mitch Moreland, I'm not interested.   Of course, you gotta think about winning the Hispanic vote, so maybe consider Chris Gimenez.

Thing you gotta like about Gimenez is that once he got into this lineup, he's made sure to build a strong wall so Corporan and Chirinos couldn't get back in.

This 4 game stretch coming up with the Angels has me nervous.  We should have taken care of business when we had the chance.  We're 5-10 against them on the year.

And a crazy stat from last night...though they got the win the Rangers left 20 on base.  Not sure I've ever seen that many before or at least noticed it.

We have to win tonight. A win tonight sets us up to only have to get a split with the Angels to win the Division outright. In the unlikely event of a Rangers win + Angels loss to the purposefully tanking pathetic stupid Oakland A's then we only need to win 1 game of the four as long as Houston loses at least 1 as well. We have the upper hand but I am nervous as well. Pennant race baseball, though.

If Anaheim wins tonight then regardless Texas has to split with them this weekend regardless if Texas wins or loses tonight against Detroit.  The ideal of ideal situation is Texas winning tonight with Anaheim losing and only needing to win one game this weekend but I certainly don't expect that to happen.

This gives me tired head.

What I know is Texas is 2 games up with 5 to play.

With where they were at the end of July, I'll take this every day of the week.

All remaining 5 games are at home with a 2 game lead and a head to head chance to eliminate the second place Angels.

I'd much rather be in Texas's position than the Stros's or Angel's.

One more win or an Astros loss this weekend and Texas takes the division.  Hope they can wrap it up tonight at home and since Houston is in Arizona their game starts an hour late so it'd be nice if they can win and celebrate in front of the home fans.
