In the midst of a 5-way competition for QB this Spring he has decided to transfer away from South Carolina because he wants to play QB. He had five P5 offers and 8 offers in total. He's now 6'1" 220lb and was recruited as a dual threat QB out of high school as a 3 star. I believe he would have 3 years left of eligibility.

We are ALWAYS (or we should be) in the market for a decent FBS level QB and here is one right here looking for a home. Steve Spurrier said he wants to play QB and it doesn't matter if he has to drop all the way to D3 to do it...

And none seem to be able to throw a football. I know we have been putting our hope in D Smith, but Mr. Nosovitch would have 2 years of eligibility after Smith graduates, and thats if Smith even pans out. So he's a legit D1 QB that would be able to sit in our system here for 2 years and then play in the system for 2 years. These are the exact kind of guys we need to be after. He may not be the QB Coach Spurrier wants in South Carolina, but if Steve Spurrier recruited him I can assure you he has all the tools necessary to play at a very high level in CUSA.

This SC kid is probably better off dropping to FCS instead, just to be eligible immediately. Plus, a lot of FCS teams play fun, wide-open offenses that throw the ball a lot...basically the polar opposite of McDickey Ball.

Damarcus Smith and Nosovitch are both redshirt juniors, so Nosovitch would have no eligibility left after Smith graduates, if Smith pans out. Don't know where you got the idea that he'd have two more years of eligibility than Smith.

But because he's a redshirt junior, Nosovitch will probably go to an FCS school so he won't have to sit out a year. Not only would he have to sit out a year here, but he's from Pennsylvania so I highly doubt he'd consider us. We couldn't offer the grad transfer UTSA got because we had too many scholarship QBs. Unless someone leaves that'll likely remain the case.

but if RANDOM P5 COACH recruited him I can assure you he has all the tools necessary to play at a very high level in CUSA.

Tyler Stratford disagrees.

Cam Feldt vehemently disagrees.

Anthony Wallace is on his way to disagreeing.

There are other examples I just can't think of right now.

I'm VERY leery of the P5 transfer. This is football, not basketball. The P5 transfers that have worked out for UNT have been few and far between. Trice is the only one that comes to mind, although I'm sure there are others.

McDickey Ball?? LOL!

Shoot, if we give him an opportunity to play at UNT, I don't see it posing a real problem. I don't see it happening, seeing that Andrew McNulty is still our starting QB after a disastrous 2014 season.... and we now have 9 QB'S, with The top three being from last year's top three. Still hoping Smith can figure his grades out... a lot of us are relying on this guy to guide the team through our brutal schedule this season. Besides the rambling, I say go for it UNT! If a SEC transfer wants to come here, let's take him.

I think you are correct, Billy. I went back to the rivals page I was reading. I read the visit date and thought it was a commit date and confused the years. Nevertheless, he would have 2 years of eligibility remaining. I am certain that we could find a spot for him if he wanted to come here and I am sure he would be a legitimate contender at QB from day 1. Just throwing this guy out there... I have my eyes out on QB's all the time given the putrid state our QB situation tends to live in around here.

Good afternoon everyone. This is Keith Jackson coming to you from beautiful Apogee Stadium on the campus of the University of North Texas. The Mean Green are unique in college football this year as they have 37 quarterback's on the roster. None can throw but all come from great families and all performed well in high school.

And for what?

I have grabbed the perception from Mac that he's a "my idea" guy... by that I mean if it's not his idea then to him it's simply hogwash. He would tell me that my idea is cute and that I wouldn't tell my Dr that he is wrong (granted Doctors are "practicing" medicine for a reason). However, the human body and all it's complexity is quite similar to the game of football.... :thumbsu:

Or we can just continue to watch the circus unravel and not post ideas on a forum that the athletic department has made quite clear (indirectly) that they read.

Oh and 90, Steve Spurrier is not just some random P5 coach...

If I was referencing Dave Clawson's history of recruiting QB's I would understand your need to change the wording of my post.

Neither is Bob Stoops. Well, at least 2001 Bob Stoops...

so let's just take a step back here and think...he is leaving a school in a 5 QB battle... and you think he WANTS to transfer to a school with 9 Qb's... where Danny Mac sure as heck isn't going to hand him the keys to the offense... much less indicate that...

i think he is keeping UNT off the radar

Still think he would have to sit out a yr. at a FCS school, believe he would have to drop to DII to be eligible next year.

No, I believe he would be eligible immediately at a FCS school.

Not that it matters but Brendan led his HS team to a 16-0 state championship in Pennsylvania. Ran for 1500 yds 25 td's and threw for 3000 yds and 43 td's, all in same year. Dude, IMO, is the real deal and he's looking for a home. He would be thrusted into at minimum QB 1 B. and could start from day 1.

He would have to sit out a year here. Maybe day 1 as in 2016. But because he would have to sit out a year he probably won't go FBS, and much more unlikely he'd come here. Edited by BillySee58
