Over/under on the amount of time in hours before she has to block FFR on all social media and her cell phone?

Tie breaker is the amount of time in days before she has to obtain a restraining order keeping FFR off her property?

Post of the year...HOF worthy this one! LMAO!

this is faulty logic. it's similar to the Tom Hicks line of thought of not spending money because the Chan Ho Park signing didn't pan out. spending the money wasn't the problem, spending it poorly was.

hiring a recruiter isn't the problem...it's hiring the wrong one. I too have no idea if Jalie is actually ready to be a head coach, but because she has a similar title/responsibility/reputation to what Benford had shouldn't be a disqualifier

Faulty logic? Hardly. Recruiting is a skill to itself and takes more of a salesman than someone with basketball coaching skills. Doesn't mean that you can't be a great recruiter and great coach, but being a great recruiter is far from a guarantee that someone is a prime candidate for a head coaching position.

I don't question Mitchell because she has a recruiting background; I question that choice because of her overall inexperience to be given a D1 hc job.

I don't know how much actual coaching experience Jalie has or for that matter; Benford before being hired at NT.

Recruiting is a great skill to have, but being a successful head coach takes much more than that.

I am not sure how I disqualified Jalie, but I would be a lot more comfortable with someone with head coaching experience at some level.

OK, let's see...most head coaches with success started as an assistant somewhere. She is an assistant at a quality program and is being mentored by a good head coach...I like her chances for success.

One other good thing...this hire stops all the "UNT never hires its own" talk. But, perhaps a little extra pressure on her to win because she is a grad. My guess, she can handle it. Will be fun to hear from her at the Coaches Caravans this year.

This is a great illustration of the trouble at UNT.

The pressure SHOULD be on RV for Mitchell to win.

But he is never accountable for anything.

The thing that gives me optimism is not her recruiting role at UT; it is that she was an assistant to Aston in Denton while Karen was building this program (albeit, only one year). So, whatever ideas and responsibilities she can bring with her from Austin, she could possibly already have ideas about how they will or will not work in Denton.

Here's another item for those few who may be questioning this hire. When Karen was hired by Texas she basically could have hired ANYONE in the country to be her assistant and top recruiter. God knows they have the budget and facilities etc. Karen could have easily cut ties at that point but she KNEW that Jalie was a rising star and brought her into the fold. Bottom line, the lady can recruit! To me this is a very important item to take note of and just one of many reasons I think this will prove to be a great hire. GMG

Good point.

My take is, she knows EXACTLY what she's getting into and understands the culture here.

Any idea why Peterson bombed? He was a head coach in a major conference. Just asking.

My theory is that he had lost the ability to connect with the young student athlete. I hate to say it after just having turned 68, but some things don't necessarily improve with age.

There was also an All-American (Player of the year in TX) from Duncanville that was a must get for Aston. Any assistance Jalie could lend was worth the hire.

“It just felt like home,” Atkins said of Texas. “I’m real cool with the coaches"

PM me and I will tell you what a former Coach had to say on the subject.
