It's amazing how one person states as a fact that ALL gays, liberals, etc are offended by our choice of speaker. Kind of offensive to speak for an entire group don't ya think.

You're excellent at putting words in my mouth.

Hopefully this will cause the silent majority to become vocal.

Doubt it. They have better things to do.

Been in Denton for five years. The downtown and UNT area is overwhelmingly blue. The rest of the town and county is overwhelmingly red. It's not a silent majority.

It's going to blow up a lot more than local. There's a petition to get him removed.

I'm sure it'll be headline news on MSNBC, which means about 3 people will see it.

The silent majority of which I speak is people having zero problem with Abbott giving the speech. That silent majority includes many democrats, just not the most nutty ones.

Ah. Fair enough, misunderstood your point.

Is it true Abbot wants to invalidate the vote of Denton citizens? I'm trying to filter through some internet chatter.

Him, Craddick and some other politicians. The tactic is to nullify the vote with a pre-emption on votes, not just this recent one, but local votes in the future.

Personally, I don't wan Abbott here either (with his whole stance on education spending), but there should be respect for the office.

Referring to him as "a politician," i.e., "just a politician," is asinine. This is the governor of Texas!!! If Ann Richards would have given the commencement speech when she was governor, I would hope everyone would consider it an honor, regardless of party. Anyone who feels otherwise is a total jackwagon, plain and simple, end of story.

I graduated in '90 and would have loved to have had Gov. Richards speak at my commencement. I didn't agree with her politically, but loved how she represented Texas whenever she appeared nationally. I remember her riding that Harley out onto the stage on the Johnny Careon show I believe. I don't know, there was just something very Texan about the lady that I liked.

then you must be embarrassed a lot by fellow alumni that are embarrassed about UNT because very few alumni give a crap and this University. And you have absolutely no clue what my association with A&M is but like always, you spout random BS you don't have a clue about. Put me on ignore if it bothers you so much.

Reminds me of the old saying "stuck hogs squeal".

Very few alumni give a crap you say and yet here you are constantly on a UNT fan board. Doesn't A&M have one where you can go talk UNT trash?
