I thought Means looked pretty good in the spring game last year so it is not like we have not seem him in live action. It does seem that they have conceded the playbook was too complicated last year given the QB's they had. Interesting to see Greer holding on to number 2 - good for him. Hopefully, we have a grad assistant following Smith around and making sure he is taking care of business. They sure seem to be planning on his arrival. Shanbour appears to be out of the mix.

Chico's comments about Means makes me think he'll have a puncher's chance in this thing.

Notice Chumley is nowhere to be found here...

Billy,
If you take a Grayshirt, are you eligible for a Redshirt + 4yrs? If so, maybe that's what they're going to do with him?

(Mocking Billy's voice) Yes

Lol. Yup. Grayshirting is just a fancy term for "delaying full-time college enrollment". Once a student enrolls full-time they get 5 seasons to play 4, and that goes for every student, even if they don't initially go to college as an athlete. Going to the military out of high school, like Sarge did, is the same as taking about 5 or 6 grayshirts. Playing for a prep school has the same effect as grayshirting. Chumley could've grayshirted another year if we wanted and he agreed to. Grayshirts are unlimited and redshirts and NCAA rules don't come into effect until a student enrolls full time.

So yes, Chumley will almost assuredly redshirt this year, now that his eligibility counter has started with his full-time enrollment this semester.

But the really pressing question is, will Chumley suddenly become ineligible for our national championship game :o in January of 2020, since the spring semester may have already begun by game time? Seriously, I've wondered in the past about sports that cross over into two semesters, but I guess "seasons" is the operative word.
