Well, I'm getting in on the donating ASAP. A athletic department staff member never asked which I said would be the stipulation for me to give, but I spoke with an alum about it and he persuaded me. Also, these numbers are embarrassing. I'm going to intentionally start low and when certain things start to happen within the program I'll happily increase my donation. But it's hard for me just to jump up to the victory level out of the gate when there are so many question marks and 0 answers. But, nevertheless, I'm in.

The scary thing about those numbers for NT, is without the inclusion of all those extra donations to obtain premium football seating, it would be much worse.

For someone hired because of his fund raising, RV has been a major disappointment in that area.

I don't think that's correct. $750,000/1,100 = $682. I assure you that isn't covering premium football seating. That's just the average amount people are putting in for annual Mean Green Club membership. Premium seating gifts are an entirely separate desk and considered a capital gift.

No, it doesn't cover seating bc paying for seats has a raw material value to it. So therefore it's really not a donation, it's a purchase. 682 is a decent number for an average, but that's not the problem. The number of donors is the troubling number. Given the historical size of the university/enrollment 1100 is ridiculously embarrassing. But, that's not really a part of RV's...oh wait....it is....and he's doing a really, really bad job at that too. *sigh*

Oh, just to be technical, it is a gift, not a purchase. Generally speaking 80% tax deductible on schedule A.

Yeah, it is. You and I and everyone else for that matter should really ask ourselves what has RV been doing for 14 years? Let's say RV came on board and the donor list was sitting at 0. That would mean that he has convinced 78/thousands of graduates a year to donate, even if it's the bare minimum. But we all know the number wasn't 0 and to be honest it probably wasn't even close to 0. So he has convinced at least half of 78 people (maybe 30 and that's being generous) to donate at least the bare minimum over a 14 year span. These numbers are horribly pitiful, like at the lowest lowest of incompetence. And, YET, there are STILL people that back our standing AD and I seriously can't fathom how or why... It really is unbelievable.

OK, well he gets "credit" for the MGC, but to say there weren't any donors in existence would be incorrect. There, surely, were already existing donors that were force fed MGC membership, surely. So, he may get credit for the 1100 "MGC" memberships. The % of the untapped graduated alumni in just those 14 years is unfathomable. Not to mention the thousands and thousands of alumni before his 14 years. It's a really, really low number that should be held to a much higher standard, much higher. The $25 Spiriki level is so low we should jump up well over 5,000 in the matter of months. It's a fraction over $2 a month. TWO DOLLARS! Even the lowest of income employed alum should be able to wage that...surely...

Unless of course the people out there are smart enough to realize that these enrollment numbers are a measure of RV's job performance and won't endorse his reign as AD.

And I can't say I blame them to be honest...which is another reason he needs to be shown the door... Not only is our revenue based sports not being beneficial to the university he is also apparently not capable of fundraising even close to the level he should be. I am now in the MGC, but I am nowhere close to where I could be comfortably donating and it is because of said AD and performance on the field/court. When things start to change for the better I will more than happily increase my donation as I am sure will others.

Very few people intentionally tie MGC donations to performance.

But people do give and give more to things in which they are excited about and emotionally invested. That hasn't been the case around here for a while.

There was a MGC in the '90's. . . . Although I'm not sure that it had the same function it does now.

Not sure what you're trying to point out there, but the club seat pricing there doesn't count the one time stadium gift per seat.

Correct. The cheapest club seats require a $3200 (??) stadium donation per seat plus the $875 a year for season tickets, of which $500 goes to the MGC and $375 is the charge for the actual tickets.

Around that, yes. for the CHEAPEST seats up there. I believe the 50 yard line seats are $10,000 per seat.

People need to keep this in mind when they tell club seat holders to quit bitchin about a bad product and 5 home game seasons.

You want ever hear me tell people to quit complaining about a bad product. I'm there day or night holding my pitchfork with you, trust me. I'll still consider club seats for the near future but I didn't realize the "gift" was as extensive. That would take some long time persuading with the better half.
