Two College Athletic Associations?

Recommended Posts

I don't see any way that TCU does not go with the other "big boys". They got left behind and wandered in the wilderness for several years after the old Southwest Conference broke up. I just cannot see them letting that happen again. They will do whatever it takes to stay with the other major schools.

No, I don't see TCU allowing themselves to go in another direction than UT and OU if they have any say in the matter.

I really don't get how the Notre Dame AD is putting forth this scenario, as it would make their athletics far less relevant than they've been throughout history. He may just be saying this in an effort to pull back the schools who are pushing for paying players.

Besides UTEP's one national championship and the run in the 80's in Basketball. UTEP's D1 bowl appearances and conference tournement appearances are not very much different than us. Of course we were out of D1 sports for some years. For the last 20 years, we've been pretty even.

Does anyone find this weird, WKU and ULL would make it to CSU but we wouldn't. If we would of stayed in the Sun Belt, do you think we would of replaced ULL?

This isn't really a divide of who "makes the cut" and who doesn't. If you'll notice, neither Notre Dame or Stanford are on the CSU side. It's about who they think would pony up and pay their players and go full-fledged semi-pro.

I like it, I actually love it. This would be big for UNT and for the other schools tied to Notre Dame. Once the can is completely ripped off and these knuckleheads are receiving full compensation, endorsements, etc. CFB will lose it's glare. But an entire division of athletics will still hold true to what college athletics is really about. Other schools currently in the P5 would come over to the non-semi pro division. It would practically be a fresh start for every program across the country, something that would be beneficial to us.

Is UNT on the Oregon or Stanford side?

“The Oregon and Stanford economic models are similar. Their approach to sports couldn't be more different.”

Oregon is a public land-grant university with a mission to provide a practical education accessible to all. Stanford is a private research institution with a mission is to offer an elite broad-based education.

They both play in the Pac-12. In Swarbrick's future vision, they would be affiliated with different governing bodies.
