Why Support this Program?….Seriously!?
I agree with the reason why most of our alumni don’t care. However I don’t agree with why our administration doesn’t care. I think they want to win on the cheap and not rock the boat with Old Denton. If they wanted to win they would publicly pursued and likely hired one of the high profile younger coaches that made a stop in one of our old conferences or FCS. Lane Kiffin, Larry Coker, Major Applewhite, Dat Nguyen (as a DC), Kevin Sumlin, Doug Williams, Howard Schnellenberger, Briles, Gary Patterson, June Jones, Deion Sanders or etc. Now if Zach Orr becomes a FBS head coach without going directly to a program that has not won multiple P5/P4 conferences title or New Years 6 bowls since 1980 without his agent getting a call from UNT it won’t be a surprise. The only coach hire I was ever slightly excited for was Dan McCarney. I have followed this team as a knowledgeable CFB fan for 25 years. -

A Game To Keep An Eye On
Yeah....Army has a ways to go. They've actually got Notre Dame (neutral site--Yankee Stadium I think).....then host UTSA.....then the AAC championship game (which, as you say....will be against Tulane). But Boise has to lose.....for their to even be a chance. -

2025 DC Wish List
This is my worry of having a younger HC running the show. Do they have the contacts and connections to be able to hire experienced coaches? And, will these experienced potential DCs believe in EM and his style knowing they potentially could be hung out to dry with all the aggressive nature of Morris’s playcalling? Also, will they realize EM could be on the hot seat, so their time could be limited? Lots of things to unpack going to a school constantly underperforming year after year. -

A Game To Keep An Eye On
What I'd love is to see Boise State and Tulane both run the table and both end up in the playoff. If Colorado can lose one and BYU can lose a couple, I wonder if that opens the door for 2 G5s. "What have you done for me lately?" -

Caponi fired
I'm glad Caponi is gone. His firing is long past due. My problem is that most people knew during Morris' first year that Caponi wasn't the answer for our defense... except Morris. Morris let Caponi go into his first season at UNT without the players to run his 3-3-5 defensive scheme, and so UNT finished dead last in defense that season. Morris allowed Caponi to continue force feeding us the 3-3-5 going into year 2, and Caponi brought in a bunch of transfers, but the results have still sucked, even after we implemented more traditional schemes. And to make things worse... Morris has a habit of passing up points and going for it on 4th, which hasn't been successful against teams that can actually win games. Plus, Morris has no jumbo package for short yardage situations, which makes it easier for defenses to scheme against us on 4th down attempts. All of that to say, Morris is also a big reason why our defense sucks. Morris' decision making tends to place our defense in tough positions. Who is going to rein him in.
