Especially pathetic considering the competition. Only 3 of those losses are to the P5 schools in the state. The other 17 are to what should be considered comparable schools...or worse.

We tend to make fun of UTSA, but have we beat them in anything? Other than UTEP at home in football 2 years ago, how do we stack up against the Miners?

In football we're all time 14-6-3 vs UTEP. You can find the football results against our opponents here.

We were a combined 0-10 on the year against UTSA and UTEP in the 3 revenue sports (football men's basketball, and women's basketball) this school year. And as the previous poster mentioned, we have fared well traditionally against UTEP, but haven't played them much since the 60s. We played them almost every year in the 50s and 60s.

non-revenue sports not lighting up Texas schools either going 19-9-1 so far with Volleyball being the big help going 9-2 against Texas Schools

I don't think anyone is making fun of NutsaK(seriously, no). Many UNT fans are simply disgusted that a new program can come in and dominate us in the revenue sports like they have. Remember, there football program wasn't even around no long ago. We, on the other hand, have had a program for over 100 years. You see the disconnect here? I am totally drained of all UNT athletics.

Great.

And our record against them in marching band performances and in low athletic fees charged to students is 20-1 (PV A&M owns us in those, as well...)

Start with the windows of the university that the BOR and the administration actually care about most, then work your way down from there. Somewhere near the bottom, you should find winning in sports that other schools in this state and in this region care about.

Petersen is gone. Benford must show terrific improvement or next year should be his last. McCarney likely has two more years to produce or he should be gone. At this stage, that's about all that we can ask for.

Now on replacements. Given RV's poor track record on hirings I live in hope that a hiring selection committee of 3 or 5 will determine future coaches. RV and Hank could be two of the members but let some combination of the UNT president, HOF members or large donors be included. All of these (except perhaps HOF members) understand the bottom line and understand spending whatever we can afford wisely. It might not hurt to extend it to non-revenue sports as well.

That's not all we can ask for.

We can also ask that a mistake made 3 years ago be corrected, 2 years after it should have been.

That's not only what we should ask for, that's what we should expect.
