Having so many kids who make it as walk ons means your staff missed.... Period

Can't we put to bed the fact that the staff missed in their recruiting? This happened, we know it, the coaching staff has admitted it and now you move on. UT Austin missed pretty badly in their past recruiting classes and they have a lot easier task than does a mid major. It happens. You sign a bunch of jucos and roll the dice.

I am just saying, in order to talk about what a "great walk on program" we have, you must first acknowledge those guys were missed in the recruiting cycle and did not get an offer. Now, the fact that these kids are producing on the D1 level and did not get an offer, yet were convinced to walk on here is great. That is all.

You have to understand that some kids are targets for walkon potential and some are not. Sometimes is it due to financial circumstances, but not always.

Every single program has walkons. At the big programs that recruit mostly 3/4/5 star athletes, it is a lot less likely that an unrecruited walkon is able to break through just due to the number of superior athletes they will have to beat out, but at programs like the G5, where we primarily are able to recruit 2/3 star athletes, the difference between some 2/3 star athletes and an unranked player is much less, therefore the chance of them beating out a scholarship player is much higher.

With that said, I agree with Harry in that the first couple of classes had a lot of misses. Hopefully the last couple will prove to be much better.
