Three new quarterbacks in C-USA West could tell the tale - See more at

One of the interesting stories to watch in Conference USA next season continued to take shape this week when former Michigan quarterback Russell Bellomy transferred to UTSA.

Bellomy was a pretty highly regarded quarterback out of Arlington Martin who 247 Sports rated No. 29 among pro style quarterbacks nationally his senior year.

Bellomy will be eligible this year, when the C-USA West Division race could well come down to who comes out ahead when it comes to hitting on their transfer quarterback.

Brett, I understand you needing to be objective in your journalism to carry a little bit of validity. But at the same time you are a beat writer for UNT. Keep that in mind. Your hidden backhands within your writing style are beyond old and on the point of obnoxious. Was there really a point in stating that the score of the LaTech game was 42-7 in the 4th quarter? Could you not just let the sentence end at 42-21 or do you have a word count to hit for your editor or something? Let's try to carry a little more North Texas optimism in your writing. We are trying to build a fan base, not scare them away.

If Smith isn't eligible in the fall, some serious questions need to be asked of this coaching staff.

QB recruiting has been beyond bad.

Agree with NT 90, but I still like the upside of Connor Means. If he has a spring commensurate with what I saw last spring when he led the obviously outmanned white team to a respectable showing I think he deserves a legitimate shot to start if he shows the ability this spring and summer. He has the size, mobility, intelligence, and arm. At least one of these attributes is missing in each of the other three returning QB candidates.

In regards to Driskell, he might have huge games, he might have bad games. Not sure if his injury affected his 2014 play at Florida (mentally).

Pros:

Very good runner

Rocket arm

When he's on, he is on.

SEC-level QB coaching

Doesn't have to deal with SEC level defenses

LaTech RBs

Cons:

Doesn't have SEC-level receivers

Inaccurate/inconsistent beyond 10 yards

Doesn't deal with pressure well

Locks onto receivers

Inconsistent touch passing (bullet passing on screens leading to dropped passes or rushed passes in the face of pressure)

Decision-making under pressure

Not sure which Driskell LaTech is going to get on game days. He's a good dual-threat QB, but he's definitely got some glaring weakness if exploited properly.
