If someone was cancerous to team chemistry...then he should not get a lot of minutes. So, if Alzee was as bad as is indicated, then it's an indictment of Benford that he played him so much. Either way -- Benford looks bad.

Childish...grow up! Try having a little class and self respect. Sad.

That's cute. Telling me to have class and self respect when you are just as guilty of calling fellow diehards trolls, saying their opinion isn't valid because they don't go to enough games, or live too far away, or saying they are haters because they feel the Benford hire was a mistake.

Hey, I get it...you have a point, but how many conference championship games and NCAA appearances had JJ taken us to before the end of his third season?

We're you here then? I was. And, I recall we had a bunch of folks wanting JJ to go away.

A little tough to try to compare a long term record with one existing less than three seasons at this point.

Why does this argument persist? These people that wanted JJ out are clearly not board members.

I came to Denton the same semester JJ was hired. Please elaborate on how JJ rebooted our program, killed crowds, ran off players and made the entire fan base want to hammer steaks into their own hearts. I totally missed that because I was having too much fun watching our team enjoy playing for a coach - despite early losses - and crowds start to grow. You're the only one I have ever read about this supposed anti-JJ sentiment.

We're obviously not going to convince each other. You will just continue to find ways to justify and support any one that is currently on UNT payroll, which means blowing off the obvious.

About as funny as those living out of state or three counties away or never even coming to games claiming they know what's going on in any way with the team or program. Now, that really is funny. My money is on Fly if it comes to betting on a horse that actually knows what he is talking about regarding this team. But, carry on supporting from afar... It provides you with such insight.

If you continue to rely on supposed problems "Behind the scenes" - over and over again - I think there needs to be more transparency to the AD. When officials start to hide behind curtains, and it is a recurring theme, something is wrong.

You are the most classless poster on this board with your constant "reading comprehensive" posts it's ridiculous. Why dont you cinch your shorts up your ass a tad more and just tie the knot with RV.

Our ad was wrong. We all wanted that team to take us on to the next level. You say that jj would have done great things with that team, but we will never know. We were not in prime position. You can argue this point all day, but it is just not true. Barry switzer was left in prime position, we were not.

If you would just quit your bs and come watch a game you could see it in person. Together with jordan, t.j. Taylor is a bad man. Deandre is the fastest thing with a basketball we have had. Mo can really play. Voss is a blue collar player that will put you on your rear. And combs, the freshman, freaky athletic ability with tremendous upside. Flanigan very athletic and great off of the bench.

I agree with this last paragraph. This team is one exciting group of players to watch. It just makes you wonder why we are a .500 team.

I was enjoying this thread til the name calling started.

Obviously with the events of the last three years I should've enjoyed JJs time here more and definitely should give him more credit then I did at the time. However.....he never gave me either of the "humps" I really wanted and I don't think either one was too much to ask.

One was a dominant conference season and we never came close to that. We did have a three way for the best record in the conference one year but at 13-5 I think that was very good night great. Plus you can't be the dominant team when you tie for the title. The other year we went to the tourney we were third in our division.

The other was a decent seed and a competitive game in the NCAAs. KSU demolished us and we only gave Memphis half a game.

Also, if JJs team his last year was so good, how'd the hell did we lose to a .500 team in the final. That loss still irks me.

I know, I know, these achievements seem light years away now but I gotta be honest. I've been a UNT fan for 20+ years and if the JJ reign is as good as UNT BBall will get in my lifetime (and the JJ era doesn't even have any competition for being the best era the last 35? years) what a sad program to follow this will have been.

By the way, I know by all accounts we should have been Sun Belt reg season champs that year but if you don't count that year, we haven't been the regular season champs in any league in at least 25 years. Besides that one year I don't think we've even been close. Good grief.....

Can't edit from my phone so here's two additional thoughts-

"sad" is the wrong word. More like tough. Off the top of my head I would guess there have been at least 50 mid major programs over the last 25 years who have had at least one season that gets over my "humps". I know almost all the MAC teams have. No reason why we can't.

I'm not 100% certain our record was 13-5 that year. If anybody has the time I'd love to know what our best record and finish in conf play has been over the last 30 years.

Going back to CMJ's argument:

Coach Benford demonstrated what he does with disruptive players during the ODU game this weekend. Re: Benching Harris.

Alzee must not have been too disruptive.

I don't believe you give enough money to the AD to be allowed to know what's going on with Harris. Hopefully, when it suits his prerogative, Fly will tell us all the real story. Edited by Green P1
