Well, he did have to make room for Devonte Fields. Shockingly, Petrino was able to look past the assault charges that got Fields kicked out of TCU. Petrino is a lowlife. Can't believe a university would want him as a public figure representing them.

This is the possible downside of the 'winning at all costs' mindset. See also the basketball program down the road.

Would you want a guy like Petrino here at UNT? How 'bout if it guaranteed 8+win seasons for the next 5 years?

Dirty coaches can win. ALOT. Apparently, to Louisville, that is perfectly OK. It's been going on forever at SMU.

Why would we want that... isn't this Benford's current guarantee to the fanbase? 8 wins a year?

Because he wins... believe me Arkansas thought long and hard about letting him go after the motorcycle deal.. in the end they did the right thing. But look at Penn State, they hired the guy who was at Vandy during the rape saga.. coaches who can win consistently everywhere they go are fairly rare in this world and schools are willing to put up with their "issues" for that exact reason.

Are you asking rhetorically?

My title got cut off and I was asking if we still had room for a 3 star running back.

Absolutely rhetorical and I highly doubt we'd have a shot at this young man seeing as how our class is full and we've likely never said a word to him before.

No way!

...wait, did you say 8 wins?

I'm at Louisville right now and the feeling about Petrino is that there was a need for a good coach to continue winning after Strong left and Petrino fits the bill but no one in the fan base actually trusts him to 1) stay for long, and 2) be the upstanding guy that strong was. he only has the jo because Tom Jurich (who I think is the best AD in the country) likes him. I am sure he will screw it up big time and Louisville will have time to go get the right kind of guy for the job. Unfortunately, Louisville has been willing to let personal issues slide with coaches in the big sports (Rick Pitino had a sex scandal a few years back in a local restaurant), but, top to bottom, the athletic department is outstanding on and off the field save a few missteps with the money sports. I think Petrino will be who he is and will be out of a job pretty soon.

p.s. he said that he doesn't want to leave Louisville again... yeah right.

Of course the kid could have decommitted at the last minute if a bigger school came in and noone would have thought a thing.

Say what you want about Petrino but he is PLAYING THE GAME TO WIN... believe me he will have Louisville performing at a very high level year in year out and ultimately will probably land another top tier job like he had at Arkansas.

Coaches that have the ability to turn programs into powerhouses are very rare. I think of Petrino and Todd Graham at ASU. Everyone hates them for their actions but they keep getting hired because Universities know they will be successful they will win games and turn programs around...

"You have to have men who are moral... and at the same time who are able to utilize their primordial instincts to kill without feeling... without passion... without judgment... without judgment! Because it's judgment that defeats us."

My last year at coaching, Texas Tech did the same thing to one our kids.

Our RB committed before his senior year. After the year, Tech fired their coach and hired Kingsbury. The kid contacted Tech and asked if he still had a scholarship or if he needed to look around. Kingsbury assured him that he still had a scholarship and he had no need to look anywhere else.

One week before signing day, an assistant coach called him to say that Tech was pulling their offer. NT had recruited him in the beginning, but already had a full allotment ready for signing day and wasn't willing to do the same thing that Kingsbury had just done.

He ended up at UTSA.

I would only root for Texas Tech if they were to play $MU.
