gray shirts are allowed to enroll as long as they are part time and they don't receive athletic financial aid.

He was rated three stars but did not have other offers. This usually points to some kind of qualifying issues.  Sounds like a solid athlete.  Welcome aboard.

Then there is little need for excitement. He is a project that may or may not pay off.

Agreed. But I'm fine with taking a project like this, with somewhat similar circumstances. This kid didn't play until his senior year, I believe, plus his brother made it to the NFL so he has genetics on his side. Not like a kid who has been playing football for 10 years, been to all the camps in high school, playing for a big-exposure school like Coppell and still unable to pick up any FBS offers.

and he is coming from Alief Taylor, a program that is putting out lots of college athletes.  If he started for Taylor with just one year of football, he has lots if upside.

Good pipeline to recruit too.

2 things:
1. He was a grayshirt under McCarney.  This is a McCarney guy.  We'll likely be talking about him in 2020 like we're talking about Marcus Smith today as being the last holdover from the previous regime.  Him signing as a grayshirt here is not a +/- for Littrell at all.
2.  If Littrell decided he didn't like this guy after he's been enrolled for a semester, and yank his scholarship for next year, he's burning a major recruiting bridge in the Houston area.

Jeez man, did I say it had anything to do with Litrell? Just asking for some info.

Thx Billy.

Reminds me of Awasome when he was comimg mout of,high school.

Awasom was an marginal prospect that became a dominant football player after he signed his LOI. Born in Camaroon, Adrian was an unpolished  6-4",  220 lb blocking  tight end that only caught 22 passes his senior season at Stafford High. He wanted to play college ball, especially at Houston where he'd attended many games as his mother was a UH professor.

North Texas signed him as a project as Awasome was muscular and had a big frame to build on. Awasom devoted himself to the weight room after signing with North Texas and reported to fall camp at a very lean 248 pounds. He was subsequently moved to the defensive line, and with further weight room dedication eventually became an NFL prospect.

Exactly.  Ozougwu was about 200/205 lbs. last year on signing day and reports now have him up to 230 while retaining his speed.  He played one year of high school ball.  This young man could be a real surprise.

Just saying this is the type of kid we were already getting. UNT the only FBS to offer.

I'll get excited when we start beating out SMU, Houston, Tulsa and others of their ilk for players.

Hope he puts on some needed weight and pans out.

can we remove negativity like this off the recruits thread. He is 18 years old. And I guarantee they read thelse threads. No one cares if you are excited or not. We get it you don't get excited about much.

I hope my lack of excitement motivates the kid to be the next Booger Kennedy. I'm sure he can take a meh reaction. If not, he has a tough life journey ahead of him.

Of course, you would get excited if we signed that 1star recruit Hamm Sandwich, so...

no I believe the saying goes "if you don't have anything nice to say, keep it to yourself". If you wanna bash RV have a field day, we know you will anyways. But don't carry it over here to the recruits page. Just because he doesn't have enough "stars" for your liking. Or the offer list you think our recruits should have.

Well, since you aren't a mod. I think you know where you can go.

I'm sure this young man has the maturity to take criticism, being an athlete and all, which Is more than I can say for several posters on this board, you in particular.

And the saying is "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

Shocked that you got something else wrong, RV Junior.

I don't see any real negativity in this thread.  I don't see anything critical about the kid other than we haven't seen him.

Mac signee (2015 grayshirt) may explain it.

That's because he is a kid we already got. He signed last February under Mccarney. I said I agree. I just said that I like taking projects like these under somewhat similar circumstances, provided that it's just one or two a class and the rest are legit-FBS prospects who we had to out recruit schools to get.
