What do you think the tipping point is for Tony Benford? How many wins and losses will he need to stay, or is he safe anyway?

If he cannot improve on last season then there is a problem. .500 or better or he will be gone. I'm more concerned about players staying. We need Reese and deandre in the back court next season!

If the team supports the coach, that might be his ace in the hole...the desire to retain all our players for next year.

I am saying it regardless of who the coach is.

Not worried at all about keeping players, but I'd hope they choose to stay. Can't worry about that kind of stuff. If they want to be here, we'd like to have them. If not, we will find others and might be better off.

If that were the case, he wouldn't even be coaching here in the first place... Coach Forrest would be here.

These should not be reasons why you keep a coach. If he's proved he hasn't been able to get it done then you have to trust that the next hire will be able to get it done, and either retain the good players/signees or go out and get good ones his self.

His stretch goal this year is 18 wins--that gets him .500 and an extension by RV.

His current goal this year is just to breathe, then he will coach next year. Buyout is not UNT-acceptable, as we all know.

Next year, his goal will be to finish above .500 by more than 4 games--that gets him an extension. Otherwise, he will be gone. No way a guy goes to coach in his last year of his contract anymore.

I have it on very good authority that he will be gone next year if he does not win at least 8 this year.

8 games?!?! For the season!?!?

Setting the standard high, I see.

All this technology and we can't even teach a broken record to appreciate jokes. Smdh.

Guys, look on the bright side. At least we don't have to worry about a bigger school coming and swooping him up.

That really isn't such a bad thing. If our last two coaches were snapped up for bigger/better jobs then we would have been winning a lot. Also it would help label us as a mid major to work for.

The tipping point is year 4. We don't buy out contracts until then.

He could go winless the rest of the year and would still have a job next year.

Sadly, I see this as being very true.

You apparently don't read my posts enough to realize that multple exclamation points are my way of indicating sarcasm.

I thought we had a closer relationship than that...

The distance is killing us... I just thought you got excited. Also, we're totes winning all our games except maybe one and making the tournament final.

RV has said many times that he gave Johnny five years to make it work....it did. Read into that what you will regarding year four.

I read it as a tombstone for the basketball program.
