How about for once everyone show up wearing the school colors. Ideally with the words "North Texas or "Mean Green" on the shirt/blouse. That way, someone who's never been before won't confuse it with some mixer for (insert name of generic charity here).

Decades ago, when I started sitting on the reserved ticket side, I couldn't tell by either their dress (just about anything but green) or crowd participation (mostly tennis applause) that I was at a North Texas football game. My sweet TWU alum wife looked around and said "do these people know they can make more noise than polite tennis applause?"....."do they even know they are at a football game"?

Culture change folks, culture change.

I'm sure those people coming straight from work to this event appreciate your perspective.

I don't care. I'm tired of our fandom being half-assed.....even the big doners. How difficult would it be to carry a polo shirt to work that morning and change before you leave. I would be willing to bet that the same event at TCU/SMU/Baylor on the same night would have rooms full of Purple, Red/Blue, and Green/Gold attendees .

I agree, not that it matters. Have pride in your school and show it!

The few times I've attended events like this after work, I was generally wearing a suit. It worked for me, worked for the people around me, and a green polo would look pretty bad with charcoal gray suit pants. I had to chuckle a bit during the 2013 season when I had to haul ass up 35W from downtown Ft. Worth, barely making it for kickoff of the Rice game, wearing a suit and tie -- dark blue. I got a few rather derisive remarks for my attire. Pardon the hell out of me for damn near killing myself to make it to a game and not wearing the right freaking color.

I do admit though, that I could use a green polo. All the UNT stuff I have is in t-shirt form. I don't own anything for nicer occasions when I've got the leisure of choosing my clothes.

Bottom line: If you work in Ft Worth or Dallas, it's a terrible beating getting up to Denton on a week night. Cut those of us making that drive a little slack for making the effort to be present.

A tie with green in it.

Problem solved

Does the invitation need to say to wear school colors? To me it goes without saying. I would never think to go to a North Texas event without wearing green. The times there have been events here in Houston that I've gone to straight from work, I make sure I have a shirt with at least some green in it on. How dressy? Depends on the event, and the day of the week - Monday through Thursday, it would be a dress shirt, Friday in my office I'm wearing jeans, so I'd wear a polo. I don't wear ties to work, otherwise I'd make sure I had a green tie on.

Go to JC Penney and buy a green & white striped Oxford shirt for $25 or so...

I wish I lived up there and could attend...

I am super color blind and therefore struggle mightily with shades. Which do we prefer?

This?

This

I grew up with a step-father that was color blind. I remember sooo many times in the morning telling him which of his socks were black or dark blue.

That is actually a viable solution of which I had not previously thought. Thank you. Short, sensible solution. Who'da thunk it?

Shade doesn't matter. Whatever it is, it's bound to represent a certain era of UNT athletics. ;-)

Wonder if my UNT dri fit with khakis counts as business casual...

Yes....no question it does. I will be dressed probably the same and have for many of these events. Works very well.

Agree with you...maybe that's why the invitation did not say anything about color of attire. You would think folks would consider that, but, to me, showing up is much more important than what you are wearing. Heck, wear cut off blue jean shorts and a sleeveless t-shirt if you want...just show up if you can.
