Decatur High School.

Scott Boyd, QB, UT, 65-67. Never saw the field, but had a coaching career after college. His most notable player was Johnny "Lam" Jones from Lampasses.

Fred Maples, QB, 66-68, played WR for Austin College. Coached at Lewisville and Northwest. Colleagues (and Decatur alums) were Ronnie Gage and Gary Prescott.

Billy Mike Anderson UNT QB/punter, 1968. Would have been a great QB for NT but thought going to class was optional.

Glynn Hachtel, UNT LB, 69-71

Danny Whitaker, QB, but played safety for NT from 76-79. Decatur's version of Cliff Harris aka "Captain crash".

Kevin Haney, QB, played QB/FB at TCU 78-81.. Decatur/TCU's version of Tim Tebow.

James Maness, WR, TCU caught the winning TD pass when TCU finally beat Arkansas for the first time in.....forever.

Galveston Ball...

Over 20 NFL players to play at least 2 years or more. As of 2005 the high school that had the most players go to the NFL, but that may no longer be the case. Most came through mid 80s-early 90s.

Kimble Anders

Todd Scott

Eric Hill

Carl Hilton

Patrick Bates

Charles Alexander

Casey Hampton

Terry Irvin

Mike Evans

Anthony Phillips

Derrick Pope

Etc.

Hey Cooley-

I am a Golden Bear too! 1967 grad!

I had a paper route for the Dallas Times Herald as a kid, delivered the paper to the Livingston's!

I did not see Jackie Allen on your roster-

I am related to Jackie Allen, Baylor Bears DB, then DB for Oakland, Buffalo, and Philadelphia 1969-72.

There are many great baseball players too from SOC!

Bryan Adams High School (Cougars)

Doug English, Class of 71 - UT Ex and former All Pro with the Detroit Lions

Lincoln Coleman, Class of 87 - former Baylor Bear and running back for the Dallas Cowboys

Scott Robertson, Class of 74 - Trinity Valley College (formerly known as Henderson Co. Jr. College). This dude could play, but an Achilles injury shortened his career. His dream was to play for the Mean Green, but alas.

Cooley, if you read this, Kevin Croft, my old room mate at HCJC, passed away recently in Dallas. Don't know if you remember or knew him, but you do have a connection with good ol HCJC, yes?
