it sucks to hear that, but good for him... he got to call his son's final game and walk off into the sunset... if only we can trust someone in the AD to make sure we hire an RTVF alum to fill in the missing spot...

It'd be real interesting to see the total w/l record for games called by Jub. That guy's had a lifetime's worth of kicks to the balls.

In hindsight, he probably wishes he made this decision one year sooner.

Going out on a high note and all.

I wonder if that pinko commie Sean Bass is ready/would be interested in the gig. I'd like to see an alumni that doesn't scream and holler into the microphone be next in line.

Sean Bass would be an excellent choice.

This is really bad news for us. I have always thought he was about the best college sports broadcaster I have ever heard and wish him and his family well.

As we discuss his replacement, isn't it a bit unusual for a university to employ their own broadcaster? I have never seen this arrangement other than at North Texas.

I know those around long enough to have heard Bill Mercer will always associate his voice with UNT sports. For me, George will always be that guy. Sad to see him go. Thanks for the memories!

Right there with you.

Hearing broadcasters for other schools go incoherent when their team makes a big play really makes you appreciate George.

A hell of a broadcaster that we wouldn't have been able to afford if he didn't have close ties to UNT.
