When we are not competitive in games, my mind has tended to wander....such things as:

1. Is there no longer a coach's box rule in men's basketball? Coach Benford is on the court most of the time, so I guess that rule is no longer in effect.

2. What is the temperature setting at the Super Pit? It is freezing where we sit....it is just age or lack of attendance and body heat? I don't notice it being that cold at other arenas.

3. Have we basically gone to open seating? I don't see ushers very often and more games than not someone is sitting in our season ticket reserved seats (lately fans of the other teams).

4 When will our fans learn to yell at our games? We are being put to shame by the fans of opposing teams at the Super Pit. That should never happen, regardless of how poorly we might play.

5. The Pep Band has always been unappreciated by the fans. They have been one of the best parts of the game, but they too seem to have lost some of their "pep" lately. Hopefully, that is just because of the holidays.

GO MEAN GREEN....BEAT UTSA! Let's turn things around in Conference USA.

1. It's there, just not heavily enforced.

2. The pit has always been kind of cold when it's cold outside if you sit down low. It is more noticeable when they aren't many fans inside or when the big money fans are leaving early/coming late. The door they come in seems to allow a ton if cold air in the south tunnel.

3. My guess is they don't push too hard on seating when there isn't many people at the games?

4. Our fans used to be much better about three years ago.

5. I don't think they are unappreciated and they still show way more spirit than what's left of the student section (front row crazies excepted).

Well, I'm older but love it cold.

The spirit band is worth going to the game and the crazy student front row fans.

The court seems dark to me.

I appreciate the WBB team staying after the game for the school song.

Most college coaches are on the court but Bedford looks like the most clueless one out there.

I love basketball, UNT and hopefully one day we'll get some Pit atmosphere back in that building.

There are a number of burnt out bulbs, especially on the northern end of the court. Truthfully, all of the house lights need to be what is called relamped, which means all existing builbs need to be replaced regardless of whether they are burned out or not. I suspect it would cost about $10,000 to $20,000 to have this done as those bulbs tend to cost several hundred dollars each and there are something like 40 light fixtures for the court and perhaps 30 or so that are over the seating area. Metal halide bulbs get dimmer with age (their color output changes as well) and should be replaced after a certain number of hours of usage.

Since the Super Pit is not maintained by the athletic department I don't think it gets the upkeep it really needs in areas like maintaining proper lighting. RV has been calling for the lighting system to be replaced for several years but athletics only uses the facility for several months out of the year.
