Thankful for kickers this bowl season.... Oh wait no, no I'm not. That was the 3rd game that a missed fg or pat directly cost me a game.

-22 net yards rushing. -.09 yards per rush.

In their haste to get as many plays off as possible Baylor left no telling how many minutes on the clock for MSU to complete the come back? For instance: The second play of Baylor's last possession, Petty quickly comes to the line and snaps the ball with 25 seconds left on the play clock. MSU scored the winning TD with 17 seconds left in the game. Oh well, at least Petty set a cotton bowl record for passing, right?

Leach never learned the importance of running the ball and clock management? Will Briles?

If they had run it 3 straight plays there at the end & did a pooch punt, Spartans would have had to go about 90 yards w/ no timeouts in less than a minute

I am more convinced that teams don't CHOOSE to do it. The coach that can speed it up and bring out the mud when need be will win consistently.

You can argue all you want that TCU might have deserved to be in the playoff...but you can't argue that Ohio State didn't

Unless you're arguing TCU vs Ohio St.

SEC was over-rated this year. They had about 5 teams were equal, but none of them were dominant.

TCU and Oregon are the best two teams.

I think TCU didn't get in because most people (ie the committee) felt like TCU was better than Baylor, but it was hard to put them in when Baylor beat them. If TCu had lost to WV and beaten Baylor, they would have gotten into the playoff...and maybe won the whole thing.

This has certainly turned out to be a year in which SEC dominance has turned into everybody dominates the SEC. It's not just that the SEC (especially the SEC West) has not had a good record in their bowl games, it's also that they had favorable matchups in their bowl games. Sometimes teams get tough draws, and it's hard to blame them for losing those games. According to the seeding, there could have been no better draw for Alabama in the playoff. Auburn drew a Wisconsin team that seemed to be going the wrong direction, had just been majorly blown out in their last game, and had lost their head coach. Ranked LSU drew an unranked Notre Dame. #7 Mississippi State drew #12 Georgia Tech. Et cetera, et cetera. It may just be a one-year blip, but the SEC ain't as mighty as they were.

100% correct. Wins versus Texas, WV, Louisville, and Minnesota...not too impressive.

Big 10 and ACC showed that they are not as bad as many people (including me) though they were. Not as much disparity between the P5 conferences as I thought.

C-USA is the class of the G5's!!!

I'm certainly not crying that Baylor lost.

With A&M gone....Baylor is my new favorite B12 team to root against.

Florida State looked horrible against Oregon though. Like they didn't belong horrible.

Still, it's a good day when the Criminoles lose.

Agree. But like all of "the committee" desicions- boils down to $$$$$.

OSU and FSU can sell more tickets for more $.

This is what happens when egos inflate. The disciplined team wins. FSU looked good the first qtr. I thought that Oregons O looked slow the first few series. FSU crumbled after not knowing how to handle any sort of failure. Hard to watch.

A lesson for us all. The bowl selection people can claim that it's all about rewarding teams for their great season(s), but it's just as much about rewarding schools for their great fan base(s). You know, the ones that show up regardless of the opponent they are playing at home, and regardless of the weather conditions. And finally, the fan bases that go anywhere in large numbers, buy tickets, and spend money locally.
