The NCAA WANTED to lose.

Get it?

No, you're just trying to fit the world into whatever narrative you're inventing.

If they wanted to lose, they never would have challenged the initial lawsuit and would have settled immediately. They settled now because there were about a dozen other lawsuits on the table, and since they'd already lost this one, it's better to try and deal now than spend millions challenging (and probably losing) them all..

Why is the NCAA losing in court a good thing? It actually makes it impossible to discipline any school under such a matter going forward, even it were allowed under the NCAA constitution. With the NCAA losing the case CMJ referenced in court (and likely being forced to settle in other cases), you now have set a precedence that other schools, were the NCAA to levy any type of punishment for a similar criminal matter, can use to have the penalty reversed or lessened.

"Quietly fade away"? Every media source in the country is reporting on this.

Really? Haven't seen it in anything but the print media.

Not making the 5 PM news like the original scandal.

They should have given Pedo St. the death penalty. Like I said at the time, the sanctions would magically disappear later on down the line.

You know what wouldn't have disappeared? Penn St. Not playing football in 2012. Even if Pedo St. had sued and won, the appropriate punishment would have been dealt.

Win or lose, sometimes you gotta put your foot down and stand for something. Had the NCAA lost in court, they still would have precedence for standing up for what is right, plus, they could have re-filed for an upper court.

In this way as it came down, they have their excuse for doing nothing but rolling over.

Despicable.
