Link to list updated Dec 24th:

I am showing 19 on the board, of which 9 have signed loi's and are enrolled. I pulled Eli off, hope he sticks but when you write a decommit letter on twitter it usually means you aren't coming. The breakdown is as follows:

19 total, with 9 signing LOI's and on campus for Spring...

QB: 2 (some think Chumley is destined for another position but I think he will have every chance to prove himself at QB and may surprise)

RB: 0

TE: 1

WR: 2

OL: 5

DE: 1 (I know some say Weggeman projects to be DT but for now he is DE)

DT: 0

LB: 2

DB: 5

ATH: 1 (Jebrell is here, makes me wonder where he will end up at DB or perhaps WR?)

of the 9 midterms (6 juco, 1 transfer 1 greyshirt and 1 HS early graduate) we have the following positional breakdown:

QB's: 2

WR: 1

OL: 2

LB: 2

DB: 2

So with Mac mentioning 25 spots to give this year, that would leave us with 6 spots left to give. Here are a few thoughts:

- you have to think they will try to land high school players with so many juco's on board already. The exception would be at defensive tackle and defensive end.

- I would like to see them land at least one HS running back, as we seem to find value at this position in the late going (see Jeff Wilson).

- Safety seems to be pretty solid so perhaps they try to land a speed HS corner?

- I wouldn't be surprised to see them cherry pick from schools like Texas State etc again as that worked out quite well for them on Tillman Johnson last year.

- I wonder if SMU with all their poaching doesn't have some interesting players already committed who we might want to check out. Tulsa with a new staff might be interesting to consider as well.

- We only have one player from Houston (Spring TE Kelvin Smith)... we just have to sign more than one player out of Houston for goodness sakes! Also no players from Austin area either.

- Cosh was recruiting for Buffalo so you wouldn't think that he would have any influence on players from this area. It will be interesting to see if he can pull one off in the short time he is here.

Prediction: I think they may try to land one late qualifying impact juco defensive lineman who is not available until the Fall... the rest of the spots will go to the best available HS athletes with a focus on d-tackle and cornerback...and a stud RB if one is available.

I don't expect any running backs this class. We only offered one, and he had SEC offers (Rawleigh Williams). We got Jeffery Wilson late, but we had offered him about 8 months prior to his commitment. Getting a running back late would require a new offer coming out, which I don't see happening.

Great point on the Houston area. As GOMG2013 mentioned, that was Noah Joseph's territory and he came through huge for us over there. Not just winning us recruiting battles for guys with solid offer lists (Chad Davis, Darvin Kidsy) but also getting as an incredibly under-recruited stud in Kishawn McClain. I hope we recruit that area much better next class.

As for defensive line, I've said this before plenty this week, but I just can't see us getting a JUCO DT better than our top 4 DTs (Watson, Wallace, Orr, and Moore). Many have already committed and getting a JUCO DT like that would take winning a recruiting battle that we haven't come close to winning. I would like to add that Torey Hendrick d-end though. I think he could start, and he was very highly-recruited but I think a lot of schools have cooled on him because of his grades. He was set to be a 2014 JUCO but couldn't qualify and had to go back. Getting him to qualify would be huge.
