I read in this morning's Denton Record-Chronicle that Denton High Wide Receiver KeyAndre Hearvey was named All State First Team. First, I'm really glad for this young man but secondly, for Denton High to have a first team All-Stater is huge. DHS went 3 games into the playoffs before getting ousted but this shows a lot of improvement for the Broncos.

So why doesn't a First Team guy have any offers yet and why isn't NT the first to offer him ?

I hope someone at NT will drive to 1007 Fulton Street and check on this guy.

Derek Thompson has really turned that program around.

Cue those who will say Brent Osborne could have done just as good a job and that Denton HS won't miss DT when he gets that coordinator position down in Celina.

Wasn't aware that QB coaches "turn programs around". Most would think that's the head coach.

You underestimate how much credit DT's prescience demands from most round these parts.

I suspected that. However, haven't we offered kids with less than impressive speed and low grades that WEREN'T first team All State in the past ? Someone tell me how many first team All State players we have on the roster right now ?

And I'm the first to remind everyone that I can't spell recruitment.

Not an offer kid because he runs a 4.7 40 and grades aren't impressive. Great kid with good hands and crisp route running. He would be a good walk on get for the Mean Green.

Thanks for the info. Good to see Denton have such a good year. Hopefully they can produce some good D1 players in the future and we can develop a good reputation there to keep them home. Any underclassmen at DHS who should be on our radar?

For now I'm hoping we can land the receiver from Guyer who we recently offered (Alex Honey). Maybe him and Watson. It's unrealistic for us to think we should get to the point where we could ever keep Denton kids with a bunch of big-time power conference offers home. But keeping these kids in Denton who have solid offer lists made up mainly of non-power conference schools is a different story. That's what we can hopefully start doing. Maybe at Denton High, Ryan, and Guyer in the future, and hopefully at Guyer with those two kids this class.

Whatever happened to the recruitment of the other DHS players, one OL and one DE? I hate to say this, but Denton needs to stress to these kids the importance of school work. I grew up in Denton and went to school there and there are a number of kids that missed out because they didn't keep up in the classroom.

RB Xavier Scott is a junior right now.

His Hudl account says he runs a 4.6 40, but man is he difficult to bring down.

He rushed for almost 2,000 yards this season.
