Hitting the juco route screams desperation so much

The worst part about it is how it happened. In Mccarney's first season as a head coach we had over 30 scholarship seniors, because Dodge's big class of 2008 kids were seniors and his 2010 JUCOs were seniors. Instead of going JUCO to fill the holes, we signed just 1 JUCO in 2012 and the rest were high school kids.

The reason was so that we could have a solid base of high school kids to build around, rather than have to keep reloading on JUCOs. The price we paid was having very little depth in 2012, but there was no pressure in year 2 for Mac so there was no reason to go heavy JUCO. Now, many members of that class have left and a lot were just never highly rated or recruited to begin with and they haven't exactly proven to be above average CUSA players. So now we do need JUCOs heading into year 5.

Agreed. Hitting on several JUCOscan jump start a program, but missing out on several of them can be the nail in a coaches coffin. Happened to both Dickey and Dodge.

Disappointing to not get a commit this weekend.

3 big names from this weekend all have visits lined up for next week. D'erren Wilson will visit UCF next week, JUCO OL Preston Brooksby will visit UTSA next week, and JUCO DB Quinton Lane will visit UL Lafayette next week.
