I went to the children's day parade this morning and the Grambling State band killed it. I would love to see the Green Brigade participate in this parade every year. I saw the UTSA band in the fiesta parade a few years back and they got the crowd roaring.

Now last year we chatted about a Gomeangreen float or representation in the March parade. It makes so much sense. Let's make it a communal build event get something registered and then haul as many talons onto Greenville in a few short months.

We had this thread last year and here were the problems;

1. We the GMG message board dorks can't make the school do anything, so it's an unofficial event.

2. The cost to enter a float was close to $1000

3. We the GMB message board dorks don't actually do anything other than bitch.

My offer still stand to pitch in $100 and help build a float.

I personally have always thought this parade would be a no brainer. I'd love to work on a float and would contribute to its entry fee. Anyone ever approached the band about participating? The whole pep band was willing to come to NorthPark for an event a few years ago and all they wanted for appearing was pizza. Let's make this happen!

You are not kidding about what people on this board do well.

In for $100 but travel every week so I can assist monetarily but the footwork will be difficult for me.

My take on this is that you have to begin planning this stuff now and WE can control this. Last year's suggested plan came really close to the deadline for entry. We have time here to make it happen and if it is a GOMEANGREEN float then we don't need to jump through hoops with the the Athletic Department, I wouldn't think. Kind of like the "offsite" bonfire at TAMU.

We can't control the AD but we sure as heck can create energy and enthusiasm for our beloved program in MANY other visible ways.
