Can't deny that for this club to be successful we need a quality QB. Not saying AM is terrible; probably good enough to get us to .500 next season but we need someone new to put us over the top. That being said, I'm not terribly excited about Caleb Chumley coming in to compete for the QB spot. A lot of really big schools recruited this guy as a TE and I'm thinking they had the right idea. I mean you look at this guy and he looks exactly like Cam Newton, but that's where the comparison ends. A huge athletic kid at 6'6 but this kid piled up stats by throwing screen passes, not to mention he only played in three games as a senior. Not a huge body of work to go off of. if you haven't gotten a chance to see for yourself here is his highlight tape; http://www.hudl.com/athlete/671491/highlights/31798376.

Can't wait to see which guy comes out of Spring ball as the starter though.

CC looks good against the blue team with the 5-5, 135 lbs NG. The entire blue team looks like midgets

against Pine Tree!

Can CC handle real D1 defensive talent as a QB?

I cannot see it.

Keep him at WR or TE.

I've seen him in person around town in Longview. Big, tall, strong frame, but not overly muscular, yet still solid. Built kind of like a power forward in basketball. Get Coach Wintrich after him and he could be a specimen at TE or even DE. With that said, it's intriguing to consider the possibilities at QB.

He doesn't need to play QB. We need a big body that can actually catch footballs at TE. I look forward to him coming in.

Marcus Smith looked good when Lil Mac actually got the ball past the DLine, including the one TD pass he improvised to make up for Lil Mac's Duck of a throw

Marcus Smith looked good when he wasn't dropping the ball. Why not have 2 big, athletic TE's on the field simultaneously? Stack them, move them around. Be creative in trying to create opportunities and mismatches for them. I know TE talk is big on this board and as it should be. A subpar QB needs a safety valve with a big frame to throw to. Why not have 2 on the field at the same time.

Or the fact that Marcus Smith will be a senior, so we need someone to replace him after next year. Our 4 most experienced tight ends heading into 2015 are seniors (Smith, Loving, Lynn, Cooper Jones). Even if Chumley is moved to tight end after spring, I wouldn't expect much from him as a true freshman. But grooming him and Reinhardt for 2016 will be very important next year, IMO.

But that's if we move him. It does seem likely, but the coaches signed him under the condition that he be given a shot at qb, so that's what's going to happen.

With the coaching we have at qb, he wont be able to play qb...

DING DING, our QB coach cant develop QB's at all. Just imagine if we had someone in here that could do that. I am not saying that if we had someone in here that could develop QB's, that CC would be the next Cam Newton but what about our other QB's that still have bad mechanics after being for a couple of years. Usually when kids come in from HS they develop over a 4 year period and you really dont see that here. Im no George Whitefield but Im just saying

Rodney Bendy 6-4, Emmanuel Moore 6-4, Caleb Chumley 6-6, (Goree 6-4, Rutherford 6-5). This receiving core is getting big fast. Me likey.

From the highlight videos, Chumley has to put in a lot of time with his footwork (non-existent) and some other parts of his throwing motion to improve as a passer.
