I'll never forget when we beat a 0-12 Nicholls Stare team too!............ Seriously though, i can't see why we should take pride in beating these teams. We barely squeaked past FIU (a team I heard didn't deserve to be in CUSA) according to a article that was posted on GMG. The only legitimate prideful win was FAU... Where is the respect in that?

This... I could care less about the SMU win. That is like saying I'm proud to have beaten up a 12 year old.

F this. You are helping the problem that is North Texas. If this is your real outlook then gtfo. F all of this we are what we are BS talk. Fans have to step their game up and f'in demand better. Demand it, don't settle for BS..

We really, really, really need a new OC ASAP. Something to breathe life into this offense bc currently this is beyond unacceptable.

I can imagine this happening:

Bye Chico and your boring, predictable offense.

Hello XYZ and your exciting offense that put up tons of points at such-&-such U.

Here are the pieces you have to work with: McNulty, a rebuilt OL, Carlos Harris, Jeffrey Wilson, Tee Goree? Willy Ivery?

Spring brings all kinds of excitement and we see lots of fun stuff at the Spring game & fall practice that brings alot of optimism

Then it's gametime:

Game1(some schmuck SLC school): a curb stomping with all kinds of exciting plays like what we saw VS Nicholls!!!! WOW!!!! We're all so EXCITED!!!! This OC is so much better than the old OC who's offense hung 56 on a similar team.

Game2(SMU under Morris): a much closer game than this year's version, maybe a UNT win? We start seeing some cracks in the foundation... but hey, SMU is going to be much better this year, so we can let that one slide.

Game3&4(a conf game & Iowa): 2 beatings. Uh-oh, we start seeing alot of vanilla playcalling because, DOH! We don't have a QB who can execute the gameplan, so McCarney asserts himself and the new OC knows he has to agree because it's the only way to keep this team in any game moving forward... McCarney gets blamed. McNulty gets blamed. People start saying the OC hire was bad.

Rest-of-season: Similar results to what we saw this year. But DANG! Jeffrey Wilson is a beast!

With the personnel we have, and Coach McCarney's old-school philosophy of protecting the football, it's not really going to matter WHO the OC is. If we don't have the horses to keep the OC's playbook open, we're going to see alot of the same crap.

Right? I mean, how could we ever be expected to keep up with the power schools, like, I don't know, Utah St?:

http://m.nydailynews.com/new-york/officer-shot-killed-crazed-man-snatches-gun-police-article-1.1740921

They graduated the most seniors of any program in the country last spring and turned right around and won 9 games in 2014.

But here at UNT, we live and love to make excuses, because, above everything else, THAT is our culture.

Agree!

It's all about hiring good coaches. I'm not saying AD's will hit on every one of them but RV's track record is awful and what's worse is once a hire is made we're stuck with it because the funds aren't their to buy them out when in reality keeping bad coaches longer only worsens the state and perception of the program. We don't have to look to far as we can look at Arkansas State and the role they've been on hiring coaches.

Hugh Freeze - 2011 Now at Ole Miss

Guz Malzahn - 2012 Now at Auburn

Bryan Harsin - 2013 Back to Boise State and were ranked last I checked.

Blake Anderson - 2014 and beyond and who knows when he ends if he continues on having success.

If ASU can do it being in Jonesboro, AR (no offense to anyone there) then surely NT can do it.

I cant speak on everything Utah State, but I watched Chuckie keeton in a playoff game a few minutes from my home in 2010. Never really heard of Utah state, but that was where he was going. He was a skinny fast kid playing qb. Athlete. Could run better than he could throw (that day), but you could see the raw ability. Not many wanted him to play qb on the next level. 2 star.

A few months later I turn on the TV, and this same kid is STARTING for a D1 football team. What? I followed Utah state and watched them get more pub and ranked.

Keeton followed that true freshman year up, with an all conference year and even started getting Heisman pub until he got hurt. did not get recruited to play qb in Texas.

looking at Utah State now. They have another true freshman starting at qb. Athlete...Guess what state he us from? Texas...not highly recruited. Kent myers from Sachse.

How can a school from Utah come in our state and pick these athletes and have them playing D1 ball as true freshmen? Coaching. Designing a system based on the talent you have or the best you can acquire.

We beat hands down, the worst team in the country. I don't take that much pride in that win anymore.

I think Idaho, Georgia St., NM St. might have something to say about that.

Bottom line on the season: Not many teams, even P5 teams, can win with their 3rd string QB. I feel confident in saying that our starter (any of them) would be a 3rd string QB at most FBS schools.

I know QB was far from our only problem, but you just can't win consistently with the type of QB we rolled out each week even if you don't have the other issues.
